Joanna's Nannies is looking for a gentle and warm Family Assistant to support a family in Ross, CA. The role involves taking care of their 7-year-old boy with Autism, as well as helping with general household tasks while the children are at school. This position requires a calm, patient, and proactive individual who can balance engaged childcare with household support. They also have a lovely 5 year old daughter who would occasionally need child care and assistance with school/extra-curricular pick ups/drop offs.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide warm, patient, and engaged care to both children, maintaining a calm and supportive environment
Prepare meals and snacks for the children; assist with family meal prep (simple prep, chopping vegetables, crockpot tasks)
Plan age-appropriate activities, outings, and extracurriculars
Drive children to school, therapy, and activities (mileage reimbursed)
Administer medication as instructed and support the 7-year-old with transitions using strategies from parents/therapists
Assist with homework, school projects, and daily routines
Manage light household tasks, including children's laundry, loading/unloading the dishwasher, tidying common areas, and vacuuming
Grocery shopping and running errands using a provided list
Complete organizing, errands, and household tasks while the 7-year-old is at school
Qualifications
Calm, patient, and kind demeanor
Willingness to learn how to support a neurodiverse, low-speaking child with epilepsy
Reliable, organized, and proactive
Comfortable managing routines and multitasking
Must be able to drive; clean driving record required (mileage reimbursement)
Special needs experience is a plus but not required
Former Nanny experience is required (2 formal references will be requested)
