Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Full-Time Retail Sales Associate to join our artisan-focused retail shop in historic downtown St. Augustine. This role is ideal for someone who genuinely appreciates handcrafted, globally sourced and artisan-made products and enjoys helping customers connect with the story behind what they purchase.

The ideal candidate brings strong communication skills, retail experience and a natural eye for beauty, presentation and detail. While this is primarily a customer-facing sales role, we value individuals who take pride in maintaining visually engaging displays and have an interest in light merchandising and product presentation.

This position offers a dynamic, past-paced retail environment where creativity, customer connection and teamwork are highly valued. Bilingual abilities and prior supervisory experience are a plus but not required.

This position may evolve into an assistant management role for a candidate who demonstrates reliability, leadership and a strong understanding of the store and its products.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and assist them with product selection to create a welcoming, engaging shopping experience Operate POS systems efficiently for sales transactions, returns and exchanges Thoughtfully recommend complementary items (such as gift pairings, spices or artisan products) to enhance customer purchases. Maintain high merchandising standards by organizing displays and ensuring products are well-stocked, visually appealing and aligned with the store's artisan aesthetic. Assist with restocking shelves and monitoring inventory levels to support product availability and presentation. Handle cashiering duties including cash handling, processing payments and balancing registers at the end of shifts. Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving issues and maintaining a friendly respectful demeanor Answer phone inquiries courteously professionally and direct calls appropriately Support team operations as needed, contributing to a cooperative and respectful work environment. For candidates with leadership interest or experience, assist with light supervisory or training tasks as appropriate.

Qualifications

Previous retail sales experience preferred, particularly in specialty, boutique or artisan-focused retail environments. Strong communication skills with the ability to engage customers in a warm, knowledgeable and authentic manner Basic math skills for handling transactions accurately and performing retail math calculations Experience with POS systems, cashiering, and cash handling procedures An eye for visual presentation, with an interest in merchandising, stocking and maintaining organized, attractive displays. Bilingual abilities are a plus to better serve diverse customer needs Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills essential for daily operations Prior supervisory experience is advantageous but not required; candidates who demonstrate reliability, initiative and leadership potential may have opportunities for advancements in the near future. Must be dependable, reliable, punctual and able to work full-time hours in a fast-paced retail environments; weekend availability is required.
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
