Want to work outside today? Great, the Fuel, Weights, and Measures Field Inspectors test gasoline for quality, quantity, and octane level as well as ensure pumps and pricing are correctly labeled. Want to work inside tomorrow? Inspectors also ensure scales in grocery stores and other consumer facilities are accurate and inspect packages for correct labeling. A position that lets you work inside and outside - what more could you ask for?



In this role, you will perform duties such as:



Enforce the State's Weights and Measures Law, Seed Law and Egg Law by conducting various inspections. Perform inspections on commercial weighing and measuring devices for accuracy and compliance with state law. Inspect packages and containers for proper quantity declaration and labeled net content. Collect and transport samples to the SCDA's laboratory for analysis. Inspect eggs at the retail level to ensure proper labeling and expiration date.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

High school diploma with two years of college or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to operate a motor vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications


----------------------------


Experience with weights and measures program. Proficient in MS Office, email and data entry.

Additional Comments

Extensive day travel required in state provided vehicle. Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Must be able to climb ladders and stairs, lift five (5) gallon cans of gasoline and fifty (50) pound test weights. Ability to work in extreme heat and cold and endure long periods of standing and walking. Requires flexible work schedule for special events at least twice per year. * Must be able to acquire knowledge of weights and measures processes and apply the National Institute of Standards and Technology (Handbook 44) rules and regulations.
