The Yard Manager is responsible for overseeing all shipping, receiving, and material-handling activities within our crane yard and warehouse facility. This role ensures efficient and safe movement of equipment, maintains an organized yard layout, and supports daily operations through coordination with internal teams, customers, and external partners. The Yard Manager is a key point of contact for customers and must demonstrate strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Key ResponsibilitiesShipping, Receiving & Material Handling
Offload and load incoming and outgoing freight using appropriate equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, cranes, etc.).
Ensure accuracy and safety during all loading and unloading operations.
Oversee yard layout and equipment placement to maximize space, efficiency, and accessibility.
Perform regular inventory counts and maintain an accurate equipment and materials database.
Customer Interaction & Support
Greet and assist customers on-site to locate, inspect, and verify their stored equipment.
Document damaged shipments and communicate findings to customers.
Provide prompt and professional communication regarding freight status, receipts, and documentation.
Documentation & Data Management
Log equipment and freight into the customer database (Dropbox).
File and maintain paperwork for all incoming and outgoing freight.
Send email confirmations and updates to customers regarding shipments and deliveries.
Coordination with Operations & Vendors
Work closely with the Operations team to coordinate equipment deliveries, pickups, and project loadouts.
Arrange for crane operators or other personnel when heavy or oversized equipment requires special handling.
Communicate and coordinate with external vendors (landscaping, sprinkler systems, plumbing, electrical, etc.) for routine maintenance or repairs.
Facility & Equipment Maintenance
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop, yard, and storage areas (indoor and outdoor).
Perform general repair and maintenance tasks as needed.
Assist employees around the facility with day-to-day operational tasks.
Requirements
Forklift experience
(required)
Class B CDL Driver's License
(required)
Familiarity with
heavy equipment
and material-handling operations
Basic computer skills (email, database entry, file management)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions and handle physical tasks as needed
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $32.00 - $43.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
