ED Tech / Secretary functions as care partner under the direction of Nurse Manager or designee and assists in maintaining a smooth functioning unit. Transcribes physician orders, answers telephone, greets and assists people who arrive on the unit, assists with admissions and discharges. Makes follow up appointments and schedules procedures for patients. Maintains efficient work area. Assists ED Physicians and other staff in preparing patients for procedures. Assists with instruments, applying splints and obtaining lab samples within established procedural guidelines. Responsibilities
  • Gathers patient information for emergency room patients in the functional areas of admissions, discharges, insurance verification and emergency room treatment records.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent and exhibit proficiency in patient care and oral communication skills.
  • At least one year of experience as a nursing assistance, EMT, monitor tech, or unit secretary, preferably in the area of application.
  • Must be able to follow directions and perform work according to department standards under the supervision of an RN.
  • Must obtain and maintain a current certificate in AHA CPR.
  • Must maintain any other requirements for each specific department.
  • Must complete required department competencies and maintain through annual review
