Position Overview
The Fractional Construction Project Manager will oversee and coordinate the construction and renovation phases of new Marigold Academy franchise locations. This role ensures each project aligns with brand standards, state licensing requirements, and approved design specifications. The ideal candidate brings expertise in managing multiple childcare or commercial buildouts simultaneously, maintaining clear communication between corporate, franchisees, contractors, and vendors.
This is a
part-time, contract-based role
(approx. 10-20 hours/week, variable by project phase) with flexibility for remote work and required travel to active sites as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination & Oversight
Manage the full construction lifecycle from site approval through certificate of occupancy and handoff to operations.
Review architectural drawings, site plans, and FF&E specifications for compliance with Marigold Academy brand and licensing requirements.
Coordinate with architects, general contractors, and subcontractors to ensure project milestones are achieved on time and within budget.
Track key deliverables (permits, inspections, utility connections, and punch list completion).
Conduct virtual and in-person site visits to monitor progress and quality.
Communication & Reporting
Serve as the primary construction liaison between franchisees, corporate operations, and vendors.
Maintain regular updates to internal leadership and franchise owners on timelines, risks, and next steps.
Collaborate closely with the Director of Franchise Operations and Construction Manager to keep all projects aligned with the Franchise Development timeline.
Budget & Schedule Management
Review contractor bids, change orders, and payment schedules to verify accuracy and adherence to approved budgets.
Identify and mitigate potential delays or cost overruns.
Maintain detailed project documentation and update construction trackers weekly.
Vendor & Quality Management
Support the procurement and installation of brand-standard finishes, signage, playgrounds, and classroom furnishings.
Verify final buildout meets Marigold's design, safety, and licensing standards prior to grand opening.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in construction project management, preferably in childcare, retail, education, or franchise settings.
Strong understanding of commercial buildouts, permitting, and compliance processes.
Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and deadlines.
Excellent communication, organization, and documentation skills.
Experience working with architects, contractors, and landlords.
Familiarity with tools like Smartsheet, Monday.com, or MS Project preferred.
Ability to travel occasionally to site locations (typically NJ, PA, AZ, MN).
