Role Description
Scientist, Formulation Development

Zoetis is the largest animal health company in the world, with an industry-leading veterinary medicine research and development team. We seek a talented and experienced formulation scientist/product design engineer to join and actively contribute to our research and development team\xe2\x80\x99s efforts to develop novel veterinary therapeutics.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Support research and development of novel pharmaceutical drug products, including sterile liquids, suspensions, topicals, and various other dosage forms.
  • Execute pre-formulation and formulation development studies for pharmaceutical drug candidates.
  • Monitor and evaluate clinical studies and manage supply logistics.
  • Ensure supplies are accurate and appropriate and in accordance with regional regulations.
  • Perform data analysis on in vitro and in vivo results to evaluate product performance and inform product development.
  • Oversee product packaging considerations across research and commercialization.
  • Conduct scale-up studies and root-cause investigations to transfer products from research to manufacturing.
  • Coordinate with external partners (CROs & CMOs) throughout the development process.
  • Author memos, study protocols, development reports, and regulatory documents for filing and commercial launch.
  • Ability to accommodate local, domestic, and international business travel up to 15% annually.


Education and Experience requirements:
  • BS (with 5-15 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience), or MS (with 0-10 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience) in pharmacy/pharmaceutics, chemical or biomedical engineering, data engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with pharmaceutical formulation development.
  • Experience with scientific graphing and statistical software.
  • Effective and demonstrated communication and supply chain leadership skills.
  • Experience with international teams, CROs/CMOs.
  • Experience working in matrix-like teams and collaborating with diverse scientists.
  • Experience in authoring scientific documents.



Other desirable attributes
  • Understanding of Quality by Design and Design of Experiment approaches and techniques.
  • Familiarity with GMP, VICH, Pharmacopoeial, Technical and Regulatory requirements in relation to animal health product development and manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing process development, scale-up, and technology transfer to pilot/commercial scale.
  • Familiarity with the Animal Health industry with experience working with Marketing/Commercial colleagues.
  • Experience with writing CMC technical sections and supporting post-commercial changes.
