The Forklift Operator plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and safe movement of materials within our non-durable goods manufacturing facility located in Dalton, DAL. This position is responsible for operating various types of forklifts and material handling equipment to load, unload, and transport goods throughout the warehouse and production areas. The operator will contribute to maintaining an organized and productive warehouse environment by accurately picking orders, stacking pallets, and managing inventory flow. Safety and compliance with operational protocols are paramount, as the role involves handling heavy equipment and coordinating with team members to meet production schedules. Ultimately, the Forklift Operator supports the overall supply chain process by facilitating timely and accurate material handling that directly impacts manufacturing efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of 1 year experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
Basic understanding of warehouse safety protocols and material handling procedures.
Ability to read and interpret order sheets and use RF scanning technology.
Physical ability to perform manual labor including lifting, standing, and operating machinery for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience operating multiple types of forklifts such as stand-up forklifts and clamp trucks.
Familiarity with durable goods manufacturing processes and warehouse management systems.
Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and supervisors.
Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Operate sit-down forklifts to move materials safely and efficiently within the warehouse and production areas.
Perform order picking using RF scanners to ensure accurate selection and preparation of goods for shipment or production use.
Load and unload trucks, verifying shipment contents and ensuring proper stacking and securing of materials to prevent damage.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the warehouse, including proper storage of pallets and materials to optimize space and workflow.
Conduct routine inspections of forklifts and equipment to identify maintenance needs and report any safety hazards or operational issues promptly.
