Job Description

Position Summary:

The Foreman - Maintenance position is responsible for performing supervisory and skilled technical work overseeing, coordinating, and supervising the construction, repair, and maintenance programs of roads, bridges, drainage structures, and other areas.

Essential Job Functions

Oversee the maintenance of County roads, bridges, and draining structures in assigned district. Inspect each work site daily to check that work is being done according to plan specifications, to resolve any problems, and to ensure that safety procedures are being followed. Receive and investigate complaints, requests or inquiries from the public pertaining to department services or programs. Make frequent inspections of the County to determine the need for road and drainage maintenance then report findings and make recommendations for repairs. Coordinate work at project sites with other County, City, and/or State agencies. Determine the materials, labor, and equipment needed for each project and determine the costs of the needed materials and equipment. Prepare budget recommendations, forecast reports, daily work reports, correspondence, equipment purchases, disposal recommendations, and other data. Perform periodically, as directed, engineering tasks such as operating surveyor's transit to lay out grades and projects, and evaluate and plan for drainage requirements, etc. All other duties as assigned.

Ability to operate and maintain assigned vehicles and equipment properly and safely. Skills in time management and organization. Effective communication skills both verbal and written. Supervisory, leadership, and delegation skills.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Three (3) years of experience in major road and bridge construction and/or maintenance. Experience as a crew leader/supervisor, preferred. Valid Nebraska Class B or Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Physical Requirements

This position must be able to sit for long periods of time, operate a computer, office equipment, and may occasionally lift up to 20lbs.

Working Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will experience considerable outdoor work and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

Pay: From $31.40 per hour
