Description of Work Murdoch Developmental Center is accepting applications for full time Food Service Assistant positions for all cottages (excluding main kitchen). Responsibilities will include Platting resident meals and beverages based on dietary cards, loading trays into food carts and delivery of food carts to dining units, and clean/sanitize work areas.
ALL employees of Murdoch Center are designated as ESSENTIAL for adverse weather and emergency events.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Recruitment Range: $31,200.00 - $45,622.00
Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.
The knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs/Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:
Experience preparing OR serving food in a commercial or health care facility (Examples: fast food, restaurant chain, hospital, nursing home, etc.)
Physical Requirements
Physical strength to lift at least 20 pounds
Extensive walking and/or standing in one place for prolonged lengths of time to complete work.
Flexibility is required to meet training requirements and facility needs.

The working hours are either 8:00am - 5:00pm, 5:00am - 1:30pm, 5:30am - 2:00pm, 10:00am - 6:30pm, or 10:30am - 7:00pm including every other weekend and some holidays.

Murdoch Developmental Center is a 24/7 state residential facility located in Butner, NC, near the Research Triangle area. Murdoch serves individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD). Murdoch is a caring community where professionals work with people of various ages, cognitive and functional abilities.

Veteran's and National Guard Preference
Applicants seeking Veteran's Preference must attach a DD-214 Member-4 Form (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty) to their applications.
Applicants seeking National Guard Preference must attach an NGB 23A (RPAS), along with the state application if they are a current member of the NC National Guard in good standing.
Applicants who are former member of either the NC Army National Guard or the NC Air National Guard, with honorable discharge and six years of creditable service, must attach a copy of the DD 256 or NGB 22, along with the state application.
