Food Safety & Quality Lead

Vermont Nut Free Chocolates is looking for a Food Safety & Quality Lead who will be responsible for the continued development, maintenance, improvement and implementation of our Food Safety & Quality Systems according to all applicable regulations. The ideal candidate will already have experience in an SQF Level 2 facility and/or have helped the facility achieve this certification. Salary commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities and Objectives:

Responsible for heading up certification teams Manages the Preventive Controls Program. Manages the Sanitation Program including testing and validation. Manages Approved Vendor Qualification Program and supply chain preventive controls. Responsible for obtaining and maintaining updated product specifications for raw materials and packaging. Responsible for assisting Product Development and Sales with development and maintenance of all finished product specifications. Responsible for heading Quality Assurance Responsible for ensuring training of all employees according to internal SOPs. Responsible for revising and editing all applicable SOPs. Manages Calibration and allergen testing programs. Reviewing, maintaining and printing all in house on-demand product labels Maintaining data entry of daily production logs Ensures all records are kept in accordance with all applicable regulations.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Food Science or a related field or relevant direct experience and training. In lieu of a Food Science degree, at least 2 years of experience in a Food Safety & Quality capacity in a similar industry. Training and experience in as many of the following as possible: FSMA, HAACP, cGMP practices, SQF, SSOP writing. Strong analytical and decision-making skills. Strong technical writing skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Access and Excel. Proficiency in root cause analysis and implementation of corrective action. Ability to work independently and as a team member. Ability to handle multiple tasks daily as assigned by management. Reviewing, updating and improving product labels including in-house printing of our on demand labels as requested by production. Knowledge and maintenance of employee safety and health programs and maintaining employee documentation and training in accordance with VOSHA regulations a plus.
