Gaylord is located in south central Minnesota about an hour west of the Twin Cities and 35 minutes from Mankato, Hutchinson, and New Ulm. As the County Seat, Gaylord is the "Hub of Sibley County." Our location produces liquid egg, hardcook egg, and precooked egg such as scrambled, patties and omelets. Responsibilities:

M.G. Waldbaum Company (dba Michael Foods, Inc.) seeks a Food Safety and Quality Scientist Manager in Gaylord, MN to be responsible for the following:

  • Manage day to day activities and develop a team of FSQ Scientists and Sanitation Managers in the support of Food Safety and Quality programs for all manufacturing facilities across the Integrated Supply Chain.
  • Work in partnership with the Corporate Food Safety and Quality team and manufacturing facility teams (FSQ and Operations) to evaluate and determine resolution for food safety and quality issues by facilitating the root cause process and identifying preventive measures to reduce reoccurrence.
  • Facilitate and support the manufacturing facility FSQ and Operational teams in the implementation of food safety and quality programs (including but not limited to: foreign material, allergen, microbiological, environmental, and pathogen monitoring programs) as well as preventive measures for identified risks.
  • Develop training programs, including training materials, for manufacturing facility personnel. Training programs include, but are not limited to food safety, quality, sanitation, processing methods, employee on-boarding, continuous improvement, and safety.
  • Coordinate and conduct (as needed) on-site training for individuals or groups for the manufacturing facility food safety and quality programs, policies, and practices.
  • Facilitate the verification process for the effectiveness of training and execution (SOPs, One Point Lessons, Hands on Demonstration, Checklist) using subject matter experts, consulting with operators, other resources, vendors, and performing duties, tasks, and steps per instructions.
  • Support the Root Cause Process and resolution of food safety and quality issues through mistake-proofing and the development of work instructions.
  • Facilitate and conduct facility food safety and quality assessments to ensure identified programs comply with regulatory, customer and corporate requirements.
  • Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data, making recommendations for improvements of the food safety and quality programs.
  • Work with Corporate Quality and Manufacturing facility operations to drive consistency throughout all ISC manufacturing facilities.
Qualifications:

We require a Bachelor\'s degree in Food Science/Technology, Microbiology, or a closely related life-science field, or a foreign equivalent degree. We also require three years of experience in a food manufacturing environment that primarily produces ready to consume products catered to both food service and retail customers. The experience must include applying knowledge of food microbiology, food safety, HACCP/HARPC, GMP\xe2\x80\x99s, Sanitary design/controls, food technology, SAP, Intelex, and RedZone compliance systems, as well as applying project management-disciplined approach and continuous improvement knowledge. Experience can be gained concurrently.
