Job Description


Your Role: Oversee and manage Feed My Starving Children (FMSC)\xe2\x80\x99s Food Quality and Safety (FSQ) program. Ensure compliance with internal guidelines and local, state, and federal regulations across FMSC\xe2\x80\x99s facilities, equipment, personnel, processes, and procedures. Develop and implement food quality and safety policies and training programs. Work with cross-departmental leadership to deliver high quality and safe products. Pay, Schedule & Benefits:

  • This is a full-time, exempt position. Work schedule is Monday \xe2\x80\x93 Friday during daytime business hours, with occasional nights and weekends to field after-hours emergencies. 15-20% local and domestic travel required.

What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Do:
  • Lead regulatory compliance with domestic (FDA, USDA, state, and local authorities) and international regulatory agencies. Represent FMSC in interactions with these agencies, and ensure FMSC remains compliant with changing codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Investigate and resolve raw material and finished product quality and safety issues. Collaborate with external suppliers as needed to resolve issues and non-conformities. Lead product recall processes.
  • Ensure that all manufacturing and quality data records remain accurate, which includes production reports and lot tracking. Oversee ingredient and finished product testing.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing leadership to design and maintain internal FSQ training programs.
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce SOP\'s, SSOP\'s, and GMPs. Maintain FSQ policies, procedures, training, and documentation.
  • Develop domestic and international shipping documents (lab tests, COA\xe2\x80\x99s, Certificates of Inspection, and Certificates of Free Sale) in collaboration with the International Programs team. Provide expertise on customs clearance questions. Document and resolve international food safety and quality issues.
  • Audit FMSC facilities and offsite manufacturing events. Inspect for compliance with internal policies and federal, state, and local regulations. Identify deficiencies and assign corrective action.
  • Collaborate on interdepartmental projects (ex. reformulation, new product development, nutrition label changes, repackaging, site expansions, facilities and maintenance).
  • Develop and implement new process requirements documentation for Manufacturing and Supply Chain teams. Contribute technical expertise in change management and process improvement efforts.
  • Maintain working relationships with vendors and audit vendor locations and programs. Hold them accountable for compliance with FMSC quality and safety standards.
  • Oversee food certification processes and execution (ex. Halal certification).
  • Design and manage annual food safety and quality program budget.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge via workshops, publications, and professional societies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Your Qualifications:
  • Commitment to support and promote FMSC\xe2\x80\x99s Christian mission and goals.
  • Minimum of bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree and 5 years of experience in food safety and quality required. Experience in a manufacturing setting and technical knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, and labeling standards preferred. In lieu of degree, relevant work experience will be considered.
  • Registered sanitarian or other specialty/credentials preferred.
  • Proficient with MS Office and inventory databases required.
  • Able to interpret food regulations and manage risk.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong judgment, decision-making, and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of detail, accuracy, and follow-through.
  • Able to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in fast-paced environment.
  • Able to identify, analyze, and solve problems.
Your Team:
  • Work location is MN (Coon Rapids, Eagan), IL (Aurora, Schaumburg). Position will have flexible/hybrid work schedule that allows for both office and remote work, though some locations may be fully remote dependent on space availability.
  • Reports to VP of Supply Chain.
