This is a part-time bartending position, but the work is directly related to the scheduled events at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center (
on call based on events schedule
).
The employee performs a wide variety of duties related to the operation of the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center banquet division as delegated by division management.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assumes 100% responsibility for quality of guests' experience
Prepare and serve alcoholic/non-alcoholic drinks consistent with the City's standard drink recipes.
Accept guest payment, process credit card charges and make change (if applicable).
Wash and sterilize glassware.
Maintains bottles and glasses in an attractive and functional manner to support efficient drink preparation and promotion of beverages.
Knowledge of drink menu in order to make suggestions and explain selections
Maintain cleanliness in bar area, including counters, sinks, utensils, shelves and storage areas.
Report all equipment problems and bar maintenance issues to bar supervisor.
Prepare garnishes, replenish snacks, and assist in the restocking of bar inventory and supplies.
Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement.
Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must posses a positive attitude and work well with other team members
Must be able to communicate and understand the predominant language(s) of our guests.
Must be able to work unsupervised
Must be available to work at 4:00 pm and as late as 2:00 am
Must have the ability to handle money and operate a point-of-sale system.
Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours).
Be able to lift 25 lbs (carrying stock and supplies)
Be willing to follow direction and ask questions for clarification if needed.
UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS:
Clean black non-slip shoes, must say non-slip-on shoe; Black socks must be worn
Clean black pressed slacks
Clean black dress style shirt with black bow tie.
POST-EMPLOYMENT OFFER REQUIREMENTS
:
Satisfactory completion of background check (including sex offender registry if applicable) and a pre-employment drug screen that tests for illegal drugs as defined by the Federal Drug Free Workplace Act but not those legalized under Michigan law.
NECESSARY SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have at least one year of bartending experience. If hired, must be willing to complete Techniques of Alcohol Management course paid for by the City of Dearborn. Must submit to a criminal history check and drug screen.
