Position Summary
The Fluoroscopy Technologist performs diagnostic imaging procedures using fluoroscopy equipment to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating medical conditions. The technologist ensures safe radiation practices, maintains image quality standards, and provides compassionate care to patients throughout the imaging process.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and position patients for fluoroscopic and radiographic examinations.
Operate fluoroscopy and X-ray equipment according to established protocols and physician orders.
Collaborate with radiologists and other medical staff to obtain optimal imaging results.
Maintain patient safety by adhering to ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles for radiation exposure.
Verify patient identification and review exam orders for accuracy.
Monitor patients during procedures and respond appropriately to any adverse reactions or emergencies.
Process and review images to ensure quality and completeness before submission for interpretation.
Maintain accurate records and documentation within the RIS/PACS systems.
Perform equipment quality control checks and report malfunctions promptly.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and departmental regulations and safety standards.
Provide excellent patient care, communication, and reassurance throughout the procedure.
Qualifications
Education: Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
Certification:
Current ARRT (R) certification required.
Fluoroscopy permit/license as required by the state.
Experience:
[Preferred: 1+ year of fluoroscopy or radiology experience in a hospital or outpatient setting.]
Skills:
Strong knowledge of fluoroscopic imaging techniques and radiation safety.
Excellent communication and patient-care skills.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and position patients safely.
Prolonged standing and occasional bending, lifting, and reaching.
