Job Skills / Requirements

- The primary duty of the floor technician is maintaining the cleanliness of the floors in the location they work in.

- Ability to operate various types of equipment used for floor care maintenance such as automatic scrubbers, low-speed machines, wet/dry vacuums, high-speed burnishers, vacuums, sweepers, pressure washer and carpet extractors.

- Be willing to assist with general cleaning duties as needed by supervisor.

- Handles various types of cleaning chemicals in compliance with applicable regulations and utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

- Ability to lift 50-100 pounds.

- Must be able to push and/or pull a minimum of 20 pounds.

- Must be able to work under pressure and time deadlines during peak periods.

- Perform tasks that require physical movement, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling and reaching.

Responsibilities

- Floor Technician is responsible for floor maintenance, restoration, and the operation of industrial floor care equipment in various facilities.

- Buffing, spray buffing, scrubbing, top scrubbing, stripping all types of floors such as but not limited to VCT, Terrazzo, and Concrete.

- Operates various types of equipment used for floor care maintenance such as automatic scrubbers, low-speed machines, wet/dry vacuums, burnishers, vacuums, sweepers, pressure washer and carpet extractors.

- Perform preventative maintenance check on all equipment prior to use.

- Secure the work area and post proper safety notices for other users of the space prior to beginning work.

- Handles various types of cleaning chemicals in compliance with applicable regulations and utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

- Utilize appropriate cleaning agents and chemicals for different floor surfaces.

- Inspect floors for damage and report any maintenance issues.

- Moves furniture and other objects as needed to complete floor care and returns all moved items to their original place upon completion.

- Monitors supply and requests additional cleaning solutions as needed.

- May be required to adjust alignment of squeeze blade, replacement of squeeze blade, hose replacement, and clearing of clogged hoses.

- Organize custodial closets and spaces after use

- Be willing to assist with general cleaning duties as needed by supervisor.

- Prioritize and coordinate with other workers as needed to complete floor care work within the overall scope of multi-trade projects.

- Specific responsibilities for each individual as a Floor Tech will be determined by client expectations, Lead or Supervisor discretion, and Floor Techs capabilities and experience.

Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent.

- Must be 21+ years age.

- Floor Strip and Wax Experience: 2- 3 years (Required)

- Floor Auto Scrubbing Experience: 2-3 years (Required)

- Floor Buffing Experience: 2-3 years (Required)

- Valid Driver's License (Required)

- Clean Driving History (Required)

- Must have transportation, valid insurance. (Required)

- Must pass a background check. (Required)

- Must pass pre-employment drug screening. (Required)

- Proven knowledge of floor care equipment and techniques.

- Proficiency in floor care techniques including stripping and waxing, buffing, floor scrubbing, and tile and grout cleaning, natural stone floor cleaning.

- Ability to operate various types of equipment used for floor care maintenance such as automatic scrubbers, low-speed machines, wet/dry vacuums, high-speed burnishers, vacuums, and carpet extractors.

- Strong communication skills to interact with team members and supervisors.

- Be willing to assist with general cleaning duties as needed by supervisor.

- Proficient written and oral communication skills according to skill requirements.

- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.

- Attention to detail to ensure high cleaning standards are met.

- Perform tasks that require physical movement, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling and reaching.
