Role Mission- The Flex Bilingual/ESL Paraprofessional (Title III) will assist campus in supporting the academic and linguistic needs of emergent bilingual/ESL newcomer students. Under general supervision, provides instruction and tutors individual and small groups of students, within the English Language Development (ELD) program, in various subject-matter areas to reinforce classroom lessons. The Bilingual/ESL Paraprofessional will also have the opportunity to play a significant role connecting with families and facilitating effective learning experiences through collaboration with content-area teachers. The Bilingual/ESL paraprofessional reports to campus principal or designee. Duties are performed under the general supervision of certified teachers. Note- Assigned campus may change on an annual basis based on district enrollment demographics.
This is Title III Part A, grant funded position and funding may be extended. A grant-funded position has no guarantee of ongoing and indefinite employment. All duties and responsibilities tied to this position are allowable and allocable to the grant.

Location - This is a full-time onsite position based in Austin, El Paso, Houston, Permian Basin (Midland/ Odessa), Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, and Tarrant County (Fort Worth),

What You will Do
Instructional Support- 90%
Provide instructional support and language instruction to newcomer Emergent Bilingual (EB)/English Learner (EL) students in classroom, individual, and small group settings.
Assist classroom teachers in implementing strategies to support language acquisition and academic success for EB/ELs.
Assist with direct academic and language designed instructional activities during whole-group and small-group content instruction
Implement prescribed newcomer curriculum(s) with fidelity (if assigned to lead
Reviews student placement and progress with content-area teacher(s).
Support classroom management and behavior intervention strategies as needed.
Providing home language tutorial assistance to individual students and help them prepare assignments in their second language
Participate in professional development opportunities to expand knowledge and skills related to bilingual and ESL education.
Other Duties- 10%
Participates in professional development, as assigned.
Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
Maintain time and Effort as approved in the consolidated application.

Required Experience
Required: Bilingual English & Spanish
Required Education: Completion of at least 48 semester units of study at an accredited institution of higher education OR possession of an associate's degree or higher from an accredited institution of higher education
Preferred Education: bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year educational institution required
Preferred Experience - Experience working with Emergent Bilinguals in an educational setting preferred; 1+ year(s) of experience working with children in a classroom or volunteer setting
Required Technology - MS Office (Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint)
