Qualifications
The responsibility of the Fitness Instructors is to instruct and monitor the various physical fitness activities while also providing personal attention to the guest's needs, and safety. Our instructors will conduct a variety of different fitness classes, which may also include swimming, swimming instruction, and/or trail running. Please note that this position is not yoga based. Another main function of the Fitness Instructor is to assist the Director of Integrative Wellbeing as well as the Assistant Manager for Fitness, Yoga and Meditation in maintaining the quality of programming and at times with the creation and implementation of new programs specific to the resort. The focus of this role is teaching cardio format fitness classes with the ability to adjust to different formats as needed by the business.
Proficient knowledge of Miraval Philosophy and Mindfulness Applications preferred.
Background in cardio workout and group fitness instruction.
2 years of prior fitness instruction teaching experience preferred as well as experience with educational programming and personal holistic practice
College Degree in Exercise Science and/or Personal Trainer Certifications and Group Fitness Instructor from ACE, AFAA, NASM, or ACSM.
CPR and AED certified and first aid certification preferred
Must have weekend and holiday availability
Ability to engage with guests and shows a high level of enthusiasm
Ability to perform one on one private training
Ability to prepare fitness equipment and supplies needed for the specific exercise activity
Ability to evaluate a guest's physical fitness level before beginning an exercise session.

Serve as enthusiastic leader of guest facing programs for leisure guests and social and corporate groups with guests of varying abilities and deliver a quality experience for all

Excellent presentation and teaching skills

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Must be able to exercise mature control over group programs.
Must be sensitive to the personalities, moods, and abilities of individuals and groups and be able to function in a supportive role while guiding them to reach their full potentials.
Make decisions in the best interest of the guests, their safety (physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually) and must be made within the guidelines of department standard operating procedures and Miraval policies and procedures.
