Job Description

Assists in fiscal operations of the Recovery and Mitigation Section, including grants administration, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. Under the supervision of the finance coordinator, supports the section in budgeting, accounting, and financial functions associated with the Individual Assistance, Public Assistance, and hazard mitigation grant programs. Responsible for steps in processing transactions, financial and budget recordkeeping for audit purposes; provides information and documentation for funds transfers, journal entries, and ledger entries. Performs and/or coordinates complex professional duties in the review and maintenance of accounting records, verification and reimbursement documentation for financial transactions, and preparation and management of disaster recovery grants. Provides recommendations on financial and budgetary issues that require action or attention by leadership.

A high school diploma and entry-level experience in accounting or bookkeeping. A bachelor\'s degree with multiple accounting courses may be substituted for required work experience. Knowledge of disaster recovery programs and/or grant administration a plus.

Must be able to interpret state and federal regulations and determine their application to grant program administration. Experience working with accounting databases, specifically the South Carolina Enterprise Information System (SCEIS), preferred.
