What the Firearms Processing Specialist Does





The Firearms Processing Specialist is responsible for the intake, documentation, processing, and disposition of firearms in compliance with Federal Firearms License (FFL) regulations and company policies and procedures. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, accountability, a strong work ethic, and professionalism in handling firearms, paperwork, and customer interactions.

Key responsibilities include:




Provide customer service regarding firearm transactions and inquiries. Maintain comprehensive and organized records for all firearm intakes, sales, and transfers. Audit and reconcile firearm records to ensure accuracy, compliance, and proper documentation. Compile reports for management regarding firearm auctions and support CRM activity for customer retention and prospective outreach. Assist with all firearm dispositions through the Loadout Department after auction closings. Oversee all 4473 e-check forms with customers and perform final verification of all required company, state, and federal documentation before transfer. Maintain accurate digital A&D Logbooks and cloud?based record systems. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to firearm storage, transfers, benefit auctions, storage unit auctions, and general FFL operations. Photograph and describe firearms or supervise cataloging staff to ensure items are represented accurately and in compliance with APAA standards and legal requirements.



Supervisory Role




Supervise catalogers assigned specifically to firearms auctions. Supervise the firearm disposition workflow to ensure every transfer is handled in accordance with all legal and regulatory standards.



Knowledge, Skills & Abilities




Knowledge of firearm purchasing processes through retail experience or private collecting. Background in current and antique firearm models. Must be 21 years of age at the time of application to comply with federal firearms handling requirements. Ability to safely handle firearms of all types. Proficiency with APAA's digital A&D logbook and 4473 electronic document systems (training provided). Strong work ethic, attention to detail, excellent organization, and time?management skills. Project management experience is preferred but not required.



Minimum Qualifications




High school diploma or GED equivalent. Photography experience and/or training preferred but not required. Proficiency in MS Office and/or Google Workspace. Valid Alaska driver's license. Ability to pass a federal background check and provide references.



Working Conditions & Schedule




Fast?paced environment requiring accuracy, regulatory compliance, and attention to multiple overlapping tasks. Occasional overtime may be required. Work may involve extended periods of standing, lifting, photographing, and handling firearms.



Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (8?hour shift + 1?hour unpaid break). Evening & weekend work may be required for benefit auction coordination.
