The City of Mountain Home is seeking an experienced, highly motivated, mission-driven leader to be the next Fire Chief of the Mountain Home Fire Department. As the Fire Chief, you will oversee all fire service operations, ensure compliance with safety standards, and foster a proactive team environment. Responsibilities

Lead the fire department by setting strategic goals, policies, and procedures to ensure effective emergency response and fire prevention efforts. Oversee daily operations, including incident management, training exercises, and maintenance of firefighting equipment. Coordinate with local agencies, community organizations, and stakeholders to promote fire safety education and outreach initiatives. Supervise and mentor firefighting personnel, fostering teamwork, accountability, and continuous professional development. Conduct regular inspections of facilities, equipment, and vehicles; oversee mechanical maintenance and repairs as needed. Manage administrative tasks including incident reports, department records, compliance documentation, and resource allocation. Respond promptly to emergency calls involving fires, accidents, or hazardous materials; coordinate with first responders for swift action.

Experience

Fifteen or more years of progressively responsible experience in fire service and five years experience at the command officer level. Proven leadership experience as a Fire Chief or in a senior firefighting role with demonstrated ability to manage teams effectively. Extensive knowledge of firefighting techniques and safety protocols. Hands-on experience with fire suppression systems, mechanical knowledge of firefighting equipment, and vehicle operation skills.
