Your Role with the Company

As a Licensed Lead Technician, you will lead a team or teams of installers to install wire, cable and support structure. You will oversee and take part in device terminations on a wide range of devices such as duct detectors, strobes, pull stations, smoke detectors, etc. and can select outlet/junction boxes, cable, and conduit. You will be capable of performing high level troubleshooting, testing, and system certification. You are capable of reading blueprints and schematics and can establish cable paths, calculate proper wire size, troubleshoot ground faults, and provide daily progress reports consisting of updates, materials lists and test results. You will be capable of panel terminations, and you will have expert knowledge of the operation and use of manual fire alarm boxes, automatic fire detectors, audible and visible signaling appliances, annunciators, and other basic components of a fire alarm system, circuit testing procedures, including frequency of tests and method of testing each component and circuits. Understand D.C. circuits, the use of Ohm\'s Law, series and parallel circuits, resistance of wires, voltage drop calculations, use of VOM (volt-ohm-milliammeter), and A.C. circuits. Understand installation methods, proper connections to maintain circuit integrity, proper location of initiating devices, indicating appliances, control panels, annunciators, and other system components to comply with fire alarm codes and standards. You will be responsible for assuring the proper operation of the system and you will know the basic principles of NFPA 72, including requirements for extent of protection, system alarm initiating devices, control functions, alarm indicating appliances, etc. You will have exposure to suppression systems installations and understand the requirements and procedures for conducting and documenting proper fire alarm system testing. You will understand the basics of signal transmission, voice/alarm communication systems, surveys for fire alarm and detection systems, alarm system maintenance, fire alarm system wiring, evacuation signals and combination systems. You are capable of completing, shop and riser drawings, as-builts and supplementary circuits.

Background Profile
  • 4+ years experience installing fire alarm cabling, support structure, and equipment in a commercial environment.
  • Active State of Texas Fire Alarm License
  • Experience overseeing installers and/or technicians during commercial fire alarm installations
  • Knowledge of NFPA 72
  • Experienced at Panel terminations, programming, and testing
  • Ability to read prints and schematics.
  • Capable of completing surveys, producing as-builts, shop and riser drawings, and supplementary circuits.
  • Excellent Communicator both written and oral
