GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Associate Buyer/ K12 EDU Systems Support Specialist performs a variety of tasks in the acquisition, assignment and inventory of equipment, supplies and commodities including technology devices, services and solutions purchase and ordering functions in accordance with state procurement rules and the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) in order to support mission and goals of the Wyoming Department of Education. The position also assists in K12 EDU systems and user support.

  • Performs a variety of tasks in the acquisition, disbursement and inventory of equipment, supplies and commodities in accordance with state procurement rules and the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO).
  • Performs detailed product research to ensure the best fit for the requirements of the requestor and the department.
  • Submits all IT related Purchase Requests to ETS for OCIO approval.
  • Initiates WOLFS procurement documents in accordance with established procedures and regulations.
  • Maintains regular updates in inventory records and researches and resolves discrepancies.
  • Follows up on purchase orders by monitoring missed delivery dates and late shipments.
  • Coordinates between staff and vendors concerning price quotes, purchase status and payments.
  • Resolves problems on sales orders, purchase orders and vendor confirmations.
  • Provides training on use/maintenance of office equipment and other IT issued devices.
  • Maintains IT fixed assets records.
  • Establishes timetables for order deliveries.
  • Assists in the installation, configuration, maintenance, administration, updates, upgrades, patching, monitoring, troubleshooting and repair of the agency\'s K12 educational specific end-user equipment, client operating systems, applications, software and resources.
  • Acts as a liaison between WDE staff and ETS on Google, Telecom, and VPN account requests and updates.
  • Maintains office equipment to include, but not limited to, copy machine configurations and settings, basic printer troubleshooting, toner replacement, laminator upkeep and supply replacement, and shredder supplies and maintenance.
  • Maintains IT supply inventory and orders toner and paper as needed.
  • Oversees IT surplus collection and disposal, ensuring state processes are properly followed, surplus inventory is removed from WDE records, and WDE Finance is provided with documentation necessary to update the asset status in WOLFs.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of all department-wide user software and K12 EDU-specific software, to provide first line user support and the knowledge to make future software solution recommendations to staff and leadership.
  • Updates and maintains specialized equipment in support of Wyoming Vision Outreach Services.
  • Assists in the ordering, receipt, configuration, and delivery of mobile devices.
  • Assists with audio and video equipment purchases, training, and operation including video conferencing software and event management.
Qualifications

PREFERENCES:

Preference may be given to applicants with experience with K12/Edu specific system, software, applications, and/or programs, Computer Systems Management solutions, Microsoft Active Directory and/or other directory management applications, and Computer/Divide Imaging solutions.

KNOWLEDGE:
  • Procurement regulations and procedures as set by the State of Wyoming and Enterprise Technology Systems
  • Current hardware and software technologies available for purchase and the best uses/applications of the technology
  • Desktop computer/cell phone support and repair
  • Principals, practices, and techniques used in installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of information systems
  • Technology purchase ticketing system
  • Advanced use of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Business Applications, WOLFS and Telesoft systems.

  • Compile comprehensive reports and comparisons while remaining current and knowledgeable in the state purchasing, distribution, and inventory processes and policies; and managing ticketing systems.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Bachelor\'s Degree (typically in Finance)

Experience:

0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Purchasing or Inventory)

OR

Education & Experience Substitution:

3-5 years of progressive work experience (typically in Purchasing or Inventory)

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, driving an automobile, etc.
  • Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.

  • FLSA: Non-exempt
  • Travel is estimated at 4%
  • Applicants may be asked to provide transcripts of any relevant course work at the time of the interview or hire.
