Overview:
Finishes Technicians perform general painting preparation and application techniques to maintain, repair, and finish USU Facilities, as well as assist with floor covering preparation and application as needed. They work as a member of a team under limited supervision on various projects or assignments. There are two openings. The positions will be hired at either Apprentice or Journeyman level - please see qualifications section.
Responsibilities:
Prepares surfaces before painting by: removing nails, washing, scraping, sanding, puttying, patching, mudding and taping, etc.
Repairs chips or scrapes on walls, ceilings, and furniture and completes texturing tasks.
Applies paint to walls, equipment, buildings, and other structural surfaces by using brushes, rollers and related equipment
Mixes, blends and matches paint to proper color and consistency, using computer.
Maintains records of paint colors for assigned buildings.
Operates equipment such as spray equipment, striping machine, scaffolding, and motorized lifts.
Hangs wall paper and applies other decorative finish elements to walls and other surfaces.
Cleans equipment, shop area, and work site.
Provides limited technical guidance and direction to less senior technicians.
Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned such as assists work in the other areas of the Finishes Shop.
