SUMMARY
Painter prep prepares trucks to be painted in the paint booth.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must be able to work with little to no supervision after two weeks.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Grind welds and other areas of the vehicle as needed to prepare for painting
Maintain and clean paint equipment
Sand vehicle to prepare for painting
Perform buffing on basic items (e.g., smart access and smaller items)
Use body filler and prepare area for painting
Use paint equipment to apply primer coat of paint
Complete taping and masking as needed for body work and painting
Caulk the exterior areas of vehicle to prepare for painting
Self-check work and inspect prior processes
Meet production goals
Maintain a clean and safe work area
Initiate process improvements when able
Work in close proximity to customer, as needed
Operate any equipment or tools needed to perform the job
Assist other team members and departments as needed
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent experience
Vocational training in body/vehicle repair or equivalent experience
Experience buffing
Experience swirl-mark removing
Wet sanding experience (preferred)
Ability to use basic hand and power tools
Ability to read and use a tape measure to precise measurements
Ability to work in a team environment
Ability to maintain attendance within company guidelines
Ability to retain and apply instructions
Positive attitude
Work overtime on short notice

Basic computer skills
Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
Must be detail-oriented
Ability to read and understand truck specification documents
Ability to communicate and understand in English

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Individuals in this position must be able to wear a respirator as needed to perform job duties
While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand and walk for extended periods of time and to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The associate frequently is required to talk or hear. The associate is required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel or crawl over, under and around equipment. The associate is required to frequently work from a ladder or at heights up to 11 feet off the ground. May be exposed to vibration.
The associate must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds frequently, move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
General production environment. The noise level ranges from moderate to loud occasionally. Environment may be warm or cool, depending on weather and other factors.
SCHEDULE:
Hours depend on business and department needs. All positions are subject to overtime as needed. Overtime can be scheduled by adding additional days to the scheduled days for the week or by extending the hours worked. See a supervisor for information on overtime worked in a particular department.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities. The associate may be asked to assist in the training of new associates on specific duties
