THE OPPORTUNITY

This position is a key member of the External Reporting group based in Newark, NJ. The Financial Reporting Analyst is primarily responsible for the preparation of 10Qs/10K in accordance with US GAAP, monthly accounting procedures around key accounts, and assisting in compliance with SOX requirements. The ideal candidate has knowledge of US GAAP and is a highly driven, self-starter with a desire to broaden their knowledge of financial reporting. The position reports to the Director of External Reporting.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare the annual and quarterly financial reports in compliance with US GAAP, SEC and other financial reporting requirements, considering external reporting time-sensitive deliverables.

  • Prepare required supporting schedules for 10Qs/10K and assess financial reporting information received from other functional areas and service providers.

  • Draft financial statement footnotes as required.

  • Stay current on accounting pronouncements and assist in implementation and compliance with new and proposed accounting and reporting standards.

  • Complete account reconciliations on complex areas of accounting including:

    • Equity and equity-award related transactions

    • Employee benefit plans including pension & other post-employment benefits

    • Goodwill and intangibles

    • Revenue and loyalty point accounting related to ASC 606

  • Work with third party specialists around stock compensation and pension accounting.

  • Review XBRL tagging for 10-Q and 10-K filings.

  • Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley 404 process and internal control concepts; perform testing of internal controls, including entity-level controls.

  • Work with external auditors during quarterly reviews and the annual audit.

  • Manage repository for statutory reporting and coordinate use of Wdesk for statutory reports with international subsidiaries

  • Assist with ad-hoc projects and initiatives, such as preparing a summary and analysis of project-related data.

  • Support the preparation and review of deliverables related to the earnings release, including working with our partners in Investor Relations.

Qualifications

HOW YOU CAN FIT (Qualifications)

  • 2-3 years of experience, Big 4 plus

  • CPA preferred (or eligible to sit for the CPA exam/has parts passed)

  • Knowledgeable of US GAAP and SOX compliance requirements

  • Detail-oriented and ability to multi-task, prioritize and stay flexible, while meeting deadlines and goals

  • Strong interpersonal and oral/written communication skills

  • Fast learner, positive professional attitude, and able to work as part of a dynamic team

  • Ideal candidate has a mix of audit experience and public company external reporting experience

  • Knowledge of Wdesk (aka Workiva) financial reporting tool and/or Oracle a plus
