Full-time City of Bozeman employees receive top-tier benefits including 15 vacation days, 12 sick days, 12 holidays, 8 weeks of paid paternal leave, potential for bilingual pay, excellent retirement options, comprehensive health, dental, and vision plans, discounted ski tickets and gym memberships, and much more!Bargaining Unit: Non-RepresentedFair Labor Standards Act Status: ExemptWork Week: Typically, Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pmExamples of Essential Work (illustrative Only)Serves as a project lead for the City's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) replacement effort, providing City-wide support for documenting current processes, coordinating input from departments, assisting with system requirements development (particularly related to financial, payroll, and procurement functions), and supporting the RFP process;Provides project management, including tracking tasks, timelines, risks, and deliverables for special projects, as assigned;Identifies and evaluates opportunities for process improvements, workflow enhancements, and cost savings;Prepares and presents financial and analytical reports to City leadership including elected officials; Provides related analytical and project management support to the Human Resources Department on cross-departmental projects, as assigned;Consolidates and analyzes financial data in support of decision making, considering the City's goals and financial standing;Participates in financial studies, including cost-of-service analyses, fee and rate studies, and other specialized financial or operational studies; Analyzes proposed legislation for financial impacts and supports appropriate City leadership in preparing testimony;Provides support for budget development, financial forecasting, collective bargaining cost analysis, and other financial data analysis;Conducts research, analysis, and evaluation of City programs, processes, and operations and recommends improvements that increase efficiency, transparency, and effectiveness, for financial sustainability; Provides technical assistance to staff regarding reporting systems, data analysis, and process improvement methods;Provides audit support to internal and external auditors, including preparation of reports, reconciliations, and supporting schedules. Assists with responses to inquiries from staff, other agencies, and other interested parties;Provides needed information and demonstrations concerning how to perform certain work tasks to new employees in the same or similar class of positions;Keeps immediate supervisor and designated others accurately informed concerning work progress, including present and potential problems and suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing such problems;Attends meetings, conferences, workshops, and training sessions to remain current on principles, practices, and new developments in assigned work areas;Responds to questions and comments from staff and citizens in a courteous and timely manner;Communicates and coordinates regularly with appropriate others to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of interdepartmental operations and activities;Performs other duties consistent with the role and function of this classification.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Public Administration, or a closely related field; andConsiderable (3-5) years of progressively responsible experience in financial analysis, budgeting, accounting, or related management analysis work, including experience in project management or process improvement; orAny combination of experience and training which provides the equivalent scope of knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Experience with ERP systems, process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.), and/or data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI) preferred;Required to possess a valid Driver's License and obtain a Montana Driver's License within 60 days of employment;Offers for employment are conditional upon satisfactory response to post conditional offer process.
