Why does the job exist?
The Financial Examiner position exists to assist in conducting examinations of NM state-chartered banks and credit unions.
How does it get done?
The key responsibilities of this job will be to maintain an organized and efficient examination as a team member and Operations or Asset Manager on assigned examinations. Some of the duty assignments the examiner will perform include reconciling trial balances to general ledgers and the call report, transferring data to the examination software program, reviewing loan policies
and procedures and preparing factual conclusions regarding quality and risk assessments for the financial institution. The examiner is responsible for drafting clear, concise, and accurate written CAMELS (Capital-Assets-Management-Earnings- Liquidity-Sensitivity) ratings and comments for use in the Report of Examination and participating in management meetings as assigned. This position requires extensive in-state and out-of-state overnight travel.

Minimum Qualification
Associate Degree in Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration and two (2) years of experience in accounting, auditing, bank administration, lending, loan review, budget analysis, economics, banking to include teller operations, and/or investment analysis. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to visual/video display terminals (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage with extended periods of sitting. Must be able to lift 25 lbs. This position requires extensive in-state and out-of-state overnight travel of up to 70%.
