We're seeking a

Controller

to build, lead, and own the Finance & Accounting function at SteelPoint Capital, a fast-growing private equity, lending, real estate, and investment firm scaling aggressively through 2026 and beyond.

This is a leadership role where you will drive clarity, discipline, accuracy, and accountability across the financial operations of the entire platform, including lending, community, operating companies, real estate, and future acquisitions.

What You'll Do:

Controllership Ownership & Authority

You will be the final decision-maker for accounting policies, controls, chart of accounts structure, financial close cadence, and documentation standards. You will define the financial rules of the game for the entire platform, including spending approvals, coding conventions, and documentation requirements. You will enforce GAAP compliance, ensure consistency across all entities, and hold teams accountable to deadlines and accuracy.

Lead Consolidations & Intercompany Accounting

Manage multi-entity consolidations, eliminations, and roll-ups. Oversee intercompany loans, transfers, and allocations. Ensure accurate reporting across operating companies, lending operations, real estate, and investment entities.

Oversee the Procure-to-Pay & Order-to-Cash Cycles

Own all controllership processes: P2P, O2C, Close, Controls. Standardize vendor management, approvals, AP workflow, AR, and revenue recognition. Implement discipline and accountability around spending, coding, and documentation.

Build KPI Accountability

Develop daily, weekly, and monthly dashboards to aid in decision making and accountability. Track financial performance metrics across lending activity and spreads, cash management and liquidity, portfolio company performance, capital deployment. Turn KPI's into organizational accountability and operational clarity.

Drive Reporting for Leadership & Investors

Produce monthly reporting packages for the CEO and leadership team. Prepare investor-ready reporting for Fund Management & Investor relations. Create consistent, professional financial decks for internal and external audiences.

Champion Financial Systemization & Process Improvement

Build scalable financial workflows, controls, and automations. Manage External Accounting Resources including Direct Accruity's work, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to SteelPoint accounting policies. Review and approve monthly close deliverables prepared by Accruity. Evaluate and improve Accruity's processes, integrations, and reporting outputs. Improve technology, documentation, and audit readiness across entire platform.

Support M&A, Roll-Ups & Strategic Planning

Assist in financial due diligence and underwriting of new acquisitions. Build proformas, annual budgets, and multi-year forecasts. Support integrations on newly acquired companies into the SteelPoint financial ecosystem.

What We're Looking For:

CPA or strong public accounting background (audit experience preferred). 5-10+ years in controllership, corporate accounting, or multi-entity financial leadership. Deep experience with GAAP, consolidations, intercompany accounting, and audit prep. Proven track record of building financial processes and controls. Strong capability in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. Highly detail oriented, organized, and process driven. Comfortable operating in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment with rapid growth. Strong communication skills and the ability to hold leadership accountable with data. Hungry to grow into future opportunities and responsibilities as the platform scales.

Compensation:
