Position Summary
The Controller will lead all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, and compliance while driving process improvements and supporting business growth. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, strategic financial leader with experience in telecom, construction, or project-based accounting. The Controller will be a key partner to the CFO in developing scalable systems, improving accuracy, and supporting data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Compliance
Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to GAAP.
Manage financial close, reconciliations, tax compliance, and consolidations.
Serve as the primary point of contact for auditors, tax preparers, and regulatory agencies.
Maintain compliance with internal policies, contracts, and external reporting requirements.
Accounting Operations & Internal Controls
Lead all accounting functions, including AP, AR, payroll, job costing, and the general ledger.
Ensure accurate revenue recognition, WIP reporting, and cost allocation for telecom projects.
Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets and improve efficiency.
Oversee billing, collections, and cash flow management.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Planning
Partner with the CFO to develop annual budgets, forecasts, and performance metrics.
Analyze budget-to-actual results and provide actionable insights for cost optimization.
Create financial models to evaluate new projects, contracts, or business lines.
Cash Flow & Treasury Management
Oversee cash flow forecasting and manage banking relationships.
Monitor capital expenditures and recommend financing strategies to support growth.
Team Leadership & Process Improvement
Lead, mentor, and develop a growing accounting team.
Drive efficiency improvements in month-end close, reporting, and project costing.
Collaborate with operations, project management, and HR to integrate financial discipline across the organization.
Support system improvements and ERP transitions (e.g., NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or similar).
Strategic Support
Contribute to strategic initiatives such as acquisitions, new service line launches, and multi-entity consolidations.
Provide financial guidance to senior management and assist in key business decisions.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or CMA preferred.
Experience: 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a senior leadership role.
Industry Background: Experience in telecom, construction, engineering, or staffing strongly preferred.
Technical Skills: Advanced knowledge of GAAP, project-based accounting, and ERP systems; expert-level Excel proficiency.
Additional Experience:
Familiarity with percentage-of-completion and WIP reporting methods.
Experience managing multi-state operations or union/non-union payroll a plus.
Proven success in process improvement and automation of financial systems.
Soft Skills: Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $109,409.06 - $135,000.00 per year
