The Financial Analyst role is a critical role responsible for performing a variety of Accounting and Finance responsibilities for the growing $400M+ Warfighter Systems division. The Financial Analyst will be an important business partner to Finance leadership and help ensure accurate and timely reporting. Tasks will include reporting financial information, supporting closing and audit processes, and leading special finance projects. The Financial Analyst will report directly to the Controller for the Warfighter Systems division in Roanoke, VA.

Support Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Cashflow Statement related activities Analyze and resolve accounting discrepancies and implement corrective action plans Own internal and external audit related processes Coordinate request tracking and responses Provide accounting with required reports/inputs/data to support audit activity Lead cash flow and working capital-related processes (cash receipts, inventory, receivables, advances, disbursements) at the division level Drive key cashflow metrics Assist with month-end closing, forecasting, and reporting processes Perform various journal entries, account reconciliations, and reporting as required to support team Provide HQ Accounting team and Warfighter Systems leadership team with key data and reports Advise management on matters concerning budget and cost, including variance analysis from annual operating plan (AOP) and forecast Help champion continuous improvement within the Finance & Accounting team (i.e. identify and implement tools and training) Take on special Finance projects as assigned Support increasing financial acumen across Warfighter Systems functions Help foster cross-functional business partnerships to drive better financial decision making Support ongoing ERP implementation activities for Roanoke site

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required. CPA/CMA is a plus but not required Previous Finance work experience (preferably within a project-oriented manufacturing/engineering environment) is a plus but not required Entry-level candidates will also be considered for this role Strong financial acumen and skills to analyze financial information Must possess high degree of accuracy and strong attention to detail but able to look at the "big picture" Ability to design Finance processes and metrics within the functional area Possess a proven solid work ethic and able to act and operate independently to accomplish objectives and meet deadlines Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work in a fast-paced environment Effective communication skills (verbal and written) Able to communicate financial and accounting terms to division staff clearly and concisely Overall mindset of continuous improvement Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to be able to proactively identify and implement process improvements Advanced expertise with MS Excel includes complex formulas and pivot tables. Defense contracting experience and working knowledge of Government cost principles - Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Supplement (DFARS), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) is a plus but not required
