Hybrid, must be able to commute to office in Portland, OR at least 3 days out of the week. The office is open M-F from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with occasional work in the evenings and on weekends.

- Samoa Pacific Development Corporation (SPDC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves the Samoan and Pacific Islander community in Oregon through educational and economic resources and cultural empowerment.

Position Summary



The Finance Manager manages core accounting functions such as payroll and tax reporting, budget development, and audit preparation to ensure SPDC's financial operations run smoothly and transparently. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in accounting, enjoy variety, adapt quickly, and value learning on the job. This position works closely with the Executive Director, the Operations & Program Manager and Grant Writer to maintain fiscal integrity while supporting programs and services that directly benefit SPDC and the community we serve.

SPDC currently serves as the fiscal sponsor for three other Pacific Islander organizations: Oregon Pacific Islander Coalition (OPIC), Pacific Islander Student Alliance (PISA), and Pacific Climate Warriors (PCW). In addition to SPDC's financial operations, the Finance Manager will support SPDC's fiscally sponsored organization's financial operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



Work with the bookkeeper to ensure the maintenance of appropriate financial records, and preparation of required financial reports Lead budgeting, planning, and financial reporting Oversee the Finance Assistant to support day-to-day financial tasks Ensure efficient and timely functioning of accounting processes, including payables, receivables, deposits, monthly closings, coding, financial filings, and records management Monitor cash flow and prepare forecasts to support organizational needs Update financial policies and procedures to improve internal controls and operation efficiency Collaborate to oversee grant programs and personnel and to ensure the organization is efficiently organized to comply with local, state and federal regulations and requirements Manage the annual audit and preparation of 990 filings in collaboration with the external CPA Identify areas for financial processes improvement Maintain up-to-date organization documents as required by law and communicate with the executive director to ensure annual review of such documents and processes are completed Provide coverage for the executive director and other tasks as needed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS



Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field 3+ years of professional experience in nonprofit financial management Proficiency with Google Suite, QuickBooks accounting software, bill.com (payables & receivables, spend & expense) Understanding of GAAP and familiarity with state and federal grant regulations, or a willingness and ability to learn quickly Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across programs, outside partners and community Able to manage multiple funding sources and changing priorities while keeping projects on track

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS



CPA or equivalent certification is welcome but not required Experience at an organization who served as a fiscal sponsor for other organizations Familiarity with fundraising and donor relations
