Reporting to and partnering with the UHC Operating Expense & Capital Management Vice President, the UHC Operating Expense Management & Capital Director will play a key role as the financial advisor and strategic business partner driving financial administration, budgeting/planning/forecasting, analysis/modeling, involvement in capital planning, etc. as well as helping with business strategy and decision support. The role will be an advisor to both senior operating and finance leadership responsible for evaluating and assisting with financial plans. The role will also be responsible for overseeing finance staff.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Strategy
  • As a true business partner to the UHC Operating Expense & Capital Management Vice President and Senior Vice President, this role will be responsible for helping to establish financial and business plans associated with UHC's Capital Plan and assess organizational performance against those plans
  • Develop tools and processes to provide critical financial and operational information to Senior Management and make actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations
  • Engage with internal affiliates, business partners, and investment committees around issues and changes in the Capital Plan
  • Provide strategic recommendations to Senior Management based on financial analysis and projections
  • Financial and Operational Management
  • Creating and reporting Forecasting & Budgeting for UnitedHealthcare Capital Plan, ensuring SG&A accuracy of the Budget, forecasts, and present financial narratives and metrics for internally and constituents
  • QCR Reporting & meeting administrator
  • COTIQ UHC Reporting
  • Quarterly forecast reporting
  • Segment Capital reporting with program level detail
  • Work with senior UHC leadership and finance leadership to develop plans to achieve financial and business goals
  • As the Capital CBA Benefits owner; Manage and track the performance of Capital CBA in keeping with the objectives and guidelines established by the senior management
  • Track all benefits in CDM
  • Report out Capital CBA Benefits
  • Maintain inclusion and maturity level info for each Capital CBA
  • Review Capital Benefit data with Capital Finance, Medical FP&A leads, HCE, and SG&A Finance
  • Develop and maintain internal cost allocation models and processes to facilitate profitability information and targets
  • Team Management
  • Mentor and develop a direct team of 1-5, managing work allocation, training, problem resolution, performance evaluation, and the building of an effective team dynamic
  • Guide larger, cross-divisional teams outside of direct span of control within UHC

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting and/or Finance
  • Seasoned and mature leader with 6+ years of broad, progressive finance experience
  • 3+ years of Supervisory Experience
  • Creativity, with experience implementing critical activities in ways that both generate operating improvements and efficiencies
  • Demonstrated ability to turn analysis into action
  • Proven "Business person" mentality coupled with exceptional financial acumen
  • Proven ability to partner with the business yet be able to deliver uncomfortable messages around operating and financial performance as need be
  • Proven ability to highlight issues/problems and convey complex thoughts in a clear, concise and timely manner both in written and oral form
  • Proven ability to identify financial and operating issues and partner with the business to find solutions to those issues
  • Proven mature and proactive, with evidence of having worked as a true business partner to business and finance leaders
  • Proven solid analytical skills and experience interpreting a strategic vision into an operational model
  • Proven effective communicator at all levels in the organization, with strong oral and written skills and a willingness to share information
  • Proven collaborative and flexible style, with a strong service mentality

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $132,200 to $226,600 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
