Position Summary:
The Department of Bioengineering in the George R. Brown School of Engineering and Computing is a dynamic and fast-paced academic unit known for its world-class faculty, cutting-edge research, and large, engaged student community. The Finance Assistant supports the department's financial operations by processing student payroll, tracking and updating labor distributions, and coordinating a variety of routine financial tasks that keep daily operations running smoothly.
This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, coordinating required documentation, and supporting the timely execution of departmental business processes. It provides exposure to a broad range of financial activities in a complex, high-impact academic environment-an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys working with established processes, managing data, and contributing to efficient administrative workflow.

Hiring Range: This is a full-time (40 hours per week) position with a recommended hourly rate of $25.43.
*Non-Exempt (hourly) positions under are eligible for overtime.
Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate Degree
  • 3 + years relevant experience in financial administration.
  • In lieu of either the education or experience requirement, additional related experience or education above and beyond what is required may be substituted on an equivalent year-for-year basis.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial or data management systems.
Essential Functions:
  • Support processing of student and staff financial actions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of entries.
  • Prepare and enter financial updates and adjustments as directed.
  • Provide transactional and administrative support for expense documentation, data entry, and report preparation.
  • Process invoices and verify accuracy to support timely vendor payments.
  • Maintain organized, up-to-date financial records and assist with audit documentation.
  • Assist with tracking and reconciling expenses and reimbursement requests.
  • Compile financial data to assist in preparing reports and summaries.
  • Coordinate with departmental and central staff to ensure accuracy of submitted financial information.
  • Respond to routine inquiries and provide courteous assistance to faculty, staff, and students.
  • Follow established university policies and procedures to support compliance.
