Under the General Manager's direction, the Field Supervisor oversees the field crew in the operation, installation, maintenance, and repair of the District's water system and its facilities. The Field Supervisor is responsible for all operational aspects of the field subject to the General Manager's approval.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Trains, directs, supervises, and evaluates personnel in all areas of operating and maintaining a rural water district.
Schedule work orders on a weekly basis and oversee there completion, and assign work orders as needed to keep a steady pace of work, identify and issue work orders as needed.
Enforces safety guidelines and ensures a safe working environment (including OKIE 811 guidelines, proper trench safety, and setting up roadside traffic signage).
Ensure all new projects and repairs follow District guidelines and meets DEQ's "Public Water Supply Construction Standards."
Operates and supervises the operation of light, medium and heavy equipment.
Ensure parts inventory on hand meets installation and repair demand.
Maintain proper chemical levels for water treatment.
Oversee the restoration of work sites to their original condition (the District will do its best to respectfully remove any encumbrances to the worksite, however the District is not responsible for replacing or reinstalling said encumbrances).
GPS all repairs and any exposed portion of water mains.
Ensure all paperwork such as work orders, daily logs, and OKIE locates are completed properly and turned into the proper authority.
Ensure all trucks and equipment is properly maintained.
Recommends ways to improve system and facilities performance.
Installs, maintains, and repairs water lines and mains.
Repairs fire hydrants, water services, meters, and meter boxes.
Locates water lines.
Installs new service taps.
Checks and repairs meter boxes and leaks.
Maintain on-call status and respond to emergency situations after hours, on weekends, and/or holidays. The position is defined as essential staff and will be expected to report to work to protect, recover, and continue operations during an emergency.
Perform other duties as assigned by the District Manager or requested by office staff.
Maintain consistent and efficient communication between the office and field personnel.
Report to work on a regular and timely basis.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Requires a high school diploma or possession of a GED, and 5 years of progressively responsible experience, including semiskilled and skilled work in the major repair, heavy construction or water infrastructure maintenance fields with supervisory experience. The ability to display the training and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.

Ability to use and instruct others in the use of hand and mechanical tools and equipment.
Ability to operate and instruct others in the operation of automotive and other types of power equipment skillfully and safely.
Ability to perform heavy manual labor under any type of weather conditions.
Ability to maintain daily records, ability to perform basic math calculations.
Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and maps.
Ability to understand and influence the behavior of others within the organization, customers, or the public in order to achieve job objectives and cause action or understanding; the ability to communicate effectively.

Physical Requirements include frequent walking and standing; frequent lifts/carries up to 50 pounds; frequent pushing or pulling up to 50 pounds; occasionally lifts/carries up to 100 pounds; occasionally pushing or pulling up to 100 pounds; frequent reaching, balancing, bending, kneeling, handling, climbing, smelling, twisting; occasional crawling and feeling; and vision, speech, and hearing sufficient to perform the essential tasks.

Possession of a valid Oklahoma Class "D" driver's license with a clean driving record.
Possession of a valid Class "D" Water Operator License as issued by the Department of Environmental Quality; a Class "C" Water Operator License is preferred.

Possession of a working cell phone with active service.
Reliable transportation to and from work.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Working environment is primarily outdoors and occasionally indoors and in inclement weather. May be exposed to the following: hazardous materials, animal waste/dead animals, flammable liquids, radiation, traffic, cramped work areas, excessive dust, weather/temperature extremes, trench excavations, underground gas/electric/petroleum/ fiber optic lines, rough terrains, cutting/chipping/grinding, hazardous/toxic atmospheres, sewage, damp/wet surfaces, snow/ice covered surfaces, animal bites, snake bites, insect bites, poisonous plants, overhead power lines, toxic fumes/vapors/odors, confined spaces, compressed gases, high noise areas and refuse/garbage/litter. Required to work overtime as necessary and maybe subject to call back for after hour emergencies.
