The Job You Will Perform:
Technology Subject Matter Experts use expertise and leadership gained through years of experience to deliver improvement within the manufacturing system. The duties vary widely between practicing safety leadership, troubleshooting, deliberate improvement projects, capital projects, equipment and process studies and audits. A key component of a Subject Matter Expert\xe2\x80\x99s job is to transfer knowledge and skills to mill personnel to build on-site capability. The SME V position is the highest- level SME in the organization whose combined abilities to consistently deliver results in the organization are beyond question.
The Subject Matter Expert position is accountable for delivering results on a wide range of assignments, short and long-term, across our global mill system. The SME must work well with varied teams and be able to quickly engage employees from all levels of the organization from executive to the shop floor, and influence vendors and contractors. The SME V has the ability, communication skills, and presence to influence all levels of the organization from bottom to top. The SME V works independently, contributing to strategic planning within the area of expertise, and able to implement large change projects sustainably and from a position of leadership. The SME V is aware of and shapes trends in the area of expertise.
The Subject Matter Expert position functions as an internal consultant, and is expected to develop projects and produce improvement in the area of expertise anywhere in the company. The duties range widely between safety leadership, troubleshooting, optimization, teaching, deliberate improvement projects, capital projects, process audits, strategic studies, and mentoring. Performance measurements include:

• Ability to contribute to, and deliver improving safety results, with a specific emphasis in the area of expertise
• Ability to rapidly and accurately diagnose and resolve operating malfunctions, either onsite and or remotely
• Reduction in consumption of direct raw materials, energy, and labor.
• Improvement in production, reliability, availability and quality above historical limits and to world-class levels
• Ability to interface with and technically develop and mentor others within the area of expertise
• Ability to drive results and self-manage priorities on multiple simultaneous projects

The SME V has the ability to function at a high level on most of these scope areas simultaneously and has a reputation as one who always delivers results where others may have failed.

• The SME V is strategic in thought, and influences and shapes change for the enterprise and potentially the industry within the area of expertise.
• The SME V can independently lead and manage projects of any size, leading by influence.

Functional / Technical competencies

• Process \xe2\x80\x93 Expert in the individual\xe2\x80\x99s specific area of expertise or combination of areas of expertise.
• Engineering \xe2\x80\x93 Experienced in fundamentals of engineering needed for process or equipment design and knowledgeable of the capital process to at least a moderate level.
• Operations - Familiar in the development of operating procedures and policy.
• The SME V\xe2\x80\x99s capabilities are truly world-class. Indicators of this level of expertise are: leadership within the subject matter within the industry and outstanding history of results.

Fiberline Innovation SME Position-Specific Expectations

• Advanced fiber line process control from the current state of being primarily operator driven to driven exclusively by high level advanced process control as well as artificial intelligence. This requires process modelling abilities as well as being able to identify and prioritize all in-line process measurements needed to achieve the desired level of control.
• The candidate must also be able to identify promising novel process measurement technologies as well as develop and execute proof of concept studies to evaluate these technologies.
• The candidate must also be able to shepherd the company from its current state to the Mill of the Future state that has been communicated.
• The candidate must also be able to envision how advancing technologies will affect the roles of operators in our mills and help develop new higher value-adding functions in response to these changes.

Knowledge and Experience: The applicant will possess at least 15 years of experience in operations and service within the area of expertise. The applicant will be capable of supporting extensive travel requirements, and providing process technical support.
