Overview

A successful Fiber Splicer is responsible for proper preparation and splicing of fiber optic cable within a telecommunications system.

SKILLS:

A good working knowledge of telecommunications network structure A familiarity with single end ribbon fiber optic cable, splice enclosures and the functionality of each The ability to use OTDR, OLTS, power meters, and fusion splicing equipment The ability to read fiber splice sheets, maps and prints The ability to interpret and analyze data The ability to identify and troubleshoot problems The ability to work comfortably in cramped and/or enclosed spaces for extended periods The ability to lift and manipulate splice enclosures and other plant equipment The ability to work aloft, either from a ladder or aerial lift device The ability to work standing or seated at a worktable for extended periods A willingness for occasional travel up to 3 hours from Omaha location to meet project needs

REQUIREMENTS:

Pre-employment drug test will be required The ability to get DOT Medical Card will be required The ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, customers, and general public The ability to follow company, customer, and permitting agency safety, MOT rules The ability to maintain vehicles, equipment, trailers The ability to follow industry standard safety protocols The ability to work safely, with or without supervision The ability to work in all weather types A willingness to work overtime, nights, and weekends when needed A willingness for on call rotation The ability to lift ? 50 lbs
Compensation for this position ranges from $20-30 per hour depending on experience. After 90 days, all positions are eligible for a review of compensation and potential raise.
