About the role

The Fiber Optic Installation Technician (Inside Plant Technician) is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of company equipment in accordance with customer requirements, and company standards. Fiber Optic Installation Technicians are also responsible for ensuring that customers receive the highest level of customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

Be the face of the company and ensure a great experience for the customer Install fiber into customers's homes by connecting to the live network in the right-of-way, routing through the yard and into the home Route the cables neatly within the home to the required hardware, provision the hardware to the customers account, activate the WiFi and check the coverage throughout the home Facilitate and troubleshoot any connection issues with customers existing electronics Ensuring compliance with industry standards and company procedures Perform troubleshooting and diagnostics on network issues to identify and resolve connectivity or hardware faults Operate and maintain various hand and power tools in a safe and effective manner. Ensure all work is performed in compliance with OSHA and company safety standards, including working at heights and within confined spaces Document installation and maintenance activities, including cable routing, equipment inventory, and system configurations Communicate effectively with customers and team members to provide updates and resolve service issues in a professional manner Assist in the planning and execution of network upgrades or expansions as needed

Skills Required & Physical Demands:

Must have a valid state driver's license and clean driving record Experience working in customer service, construction, electrical, technical or related field is a plus Work a flexible schedule, be available for overtime, emergency call outs and holiday work Strong customer service orientation, excellent communication and interpersonal skills Lift and move up-to 60 lbs. - some of our ladders weigh 50-60 lbs At times work in small confined spaces (up to 28 ft.) Ability to safely work at heights Qualify on pre-employment assessments Weigh less than 275 lbs., required for ladder safety Technical knowledge of fiber optics, including splicing, testing, and termination Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities in a technical environment Basic understanding of computers, networking, and electronic systems Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools Must be motivated and target driven

Job Type: Full-time with 8 hour shifts



Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
