Reporting to the Farm Compliance Manager, the Feed Compliance Specialist will be responsible for assessing and monitoring our partner feed mills for compliance to both rigorous Vital Farms standards and external regulatory agencies. This position provides support for feed mills in Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Oklahoma, and Tennessee. The Feed Compliance Specialist will be exceedingly thorough in their processes and provide meaningful and actionable feedback to the partner feed mills to enhance each mill\'s ability to achieve excellence.

What You\'ll Do

  • This role will travel 50 - 60% in order to accomplish core duties. The ideal candidate is located in Missouri or Arkansas.
  • Manage approval program for feed mills. This includes new mills as needed as well as existing mills based on their risk level.
  • Schedule and conduct regular audits of each approved feed mill and each feed mill\'s practices to ensure Vital Farm\'s standards are maintained.
  • Ensure that feed mills have implemented a Risk Management Plan (HACCP or HARPC) and are following it according to their plan.
  • Track and follow up on non-conformances to ensure completion and closeout in a timely manner.
  • Gather and submit samples for ingredient testing as needed.
  • Develop close professional working relationships with partner feed mills to support their learning and development in the importance of feed mill quality and regulatory
  • Manage feed additive approval process.
  • Collaborate with Farm Support team, farmers, and veterinary partners as needed for VFD antibiotic process.
  • Listen to feed mills\' needs and concerns and diplomatically solve challenges.
What You Bring to the Table
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Agriculture, Animal Nutrition, or a similar field, plus 3 years of relevant experience
  • OR high school diploma/GED with relevant 5 years of experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Analytical capabilities with the skillset to generate insight from data
  • Goal-setting; internally motivated
  • Highly organized and autonomous
  • Transparent mindset towards open communication with all stakeholders, including team members, growers, and certifying bodies
  • Ability to manage significant travel, with considerable driving and occasional overnight trips.
