Outreach is seeking a qualified candidate for the position FT Bilingual Family Therapist to work in Outreach House II, our adolescent residential substance use disorder treatment program located in Brentwood, Long Island. The Family Therapist is responsible for coordinating the service delivery of all formats provided to both the adolescent and family members throughout the treatment episode. The schedule for this position is 35 hrs; Monday & Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM; Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday, 2 PM to 10 PM.

What You Will Do:

\xc2\xb7 Facilitate parent participation in the following formats: Initial family sessions, Parent Support Group, Multi Group, Family Sessions, Phone contact/support and assistance.

\xc2\xb7 Development of family focused treatment plans with residents.

\xc2\xb7 Facilitate letter group and gain information on the family system from the resident\xe2\x80\x99s perspective.

\xc2\xb7 Facilitate Post Pass group.

\xc2\xb7 Provide individual sessions with clients and families as indicated.

\xc2\xb7 Facilitate Chemical Dependency Education group for families.

\xc2\xb7 Participate in weekly clinical formats, such as case conference, Department Head meetings, Package meeting.

\xc2\xb7 Provide crisis intervention with residents and/or their parents including scheduling and facilitating re-assessments.

\xc2\xb7 Supervise part-time Family Coordinator, Family Case Manager and graduate school interns.

\xc2\xb7 Coordinate parent telephone list, sign in forms and multi-family session schedule.

\xc2\xb7 Coordinate the screening, editing and response to incoming and outgoing letters.

\xc2\xb7 Plan, organize and attend special family events including Thanksgiving celebration, Winter Holiday, etc.

\xc2\xb7 Contact families by phone or letter, as needed.

\xc2\xb7 Facilitate phone calls home for resident, as needed.

\xc2\xb7 Screen, edit, and respond to incoming and outgoing letters to/from clients/parents.

\xc2\xb7 Work approximately one Saturday a month to provide support to the resident community and to the Substance Abuse Counselors.

Who You Are:

  • Experience working with adolescents
  • Experience working in residential treatment
  • Advanced degree required; LMFT, LMSW, LCSW, LMHC or higher preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience with substance abuse disorders
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • 1-2 years of experience working with clients with co-occurring and mental health problems
  • 1-2 years of experience working in in an OASAS funded facility a plus
  • Commitment to providing quality services and outcome driven performance measures.
  • Excellent organizational management skills with the ability to coach staff, manage, and develop high-performance clinicians, set and achieve program objectives.
  • Strong networking and public relations skills with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders, populations, and cultures.
  • Action-oriented, adaptable, and innovative approach to program planning.
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
  • Experience with AVATAR electronic health records a plus.
  • Clean and valid driver\'s license required
  • Bilingual Spanish a plus
