The Hospital of Central Connecticut is an acute-care community teaching hospital, we provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services in general medicine and surgery, as well as a wide variety of specialties. Duties



Family Support Workers provide home based parenting support for parents who have been identified through a standardized assessment tool as having risk factors. These helpful and supportive visits assist high risk families in learning more about their pregnancy, their child, parenting skills and empowerment. The Family Support Worker will also aid the family in location of social resources and services that can strengthen their family units. Site visits may include assistance with household management, stress and time management, parenting strategies and behavior management techniques

Qualifications





Education Requirements



Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, Early Childhood or Child Development



Minimum Requirements



Minimum two years experience working with young children and families, birth to age six



Preferred Qualifications



Basic computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel)

Knowledge of child abuse and neglect (mandated reporting) statutes, preferred.

Must have the ability to operate independently.

Must have reliable transportation to conduct site visits.

Previous home visiting experience strongly preferred

Parents as Teacher Certification strongly preferred
Ability to empathize with families

A strong understanding of cultural competence and sensitivity
