We provide innovative and compassionate services to individuals struggling with substance use and co-occurring disorders. We are looking for dedicated, caring and compassionate people to work in our Residential/Outpatient Treatment Facilities and Community Programs.




Family Support Worker




Hours: Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm, Tuesday and Thursday 10:00am - 6:00pm. (Saturdays as needed)


Location: Paterson, NJ


Regular Salary:

$18.00/Hr


Job Summary:




The Family Support Workers functions as an integral part of the prevention team provides individual, group, family, didactic sessions, family activities, workshops, parenting classes, Parent Advisory Committee meetings and case management like services to the families on his/her caseload while ensuring that the requirements of all regulating bodies are met. FSW will have thorough understanding of principals of family support and the protective factors and utilize such in daily work with individuals and families. FSW will engage families toward building character and self-sufficiency. Additional responsibilities include collaborating with community partners, families and work with other departments of Straight and Narrow.


Position Specific Job Duties and Responsibilities:



Provide individual, group and family consultations; didactics; treatment planning and case management like services as required per licensing standards for a caseload of families

Incorporate and implement the principals of family support and the protective factors into all aspect of their work

Formulate measurable individualized Family Success Plans and FSP Reviews for each family on caseload as applicable

Maintain families' files as per the regulating bodies--prevention standards and, DCF, Community & Family Partnership and CARF guidelines, ensuring that all documentation is up to date as per Straight & Narrow's Policy on Timeframe for Documentation in families' records

Attend regularly scheduled multidisciplinary team meetings (MDT) and present information for families on their caseloads

Attend individual and group supervision, staff meetings, in-service seminars, trainings, etc. as scheduled by the supervisor

Provide families on caseload with referrals to other agencies (i.e., health, psychiatric, vocational rehabilitation, housing, and public assistance, etc.) for concurrent and/or continued care as part of case management as necessary

Provide crisis intervention to families as necessary

Submit documentation to Supervisor daily for any/all sessions held with families on that day

Facilitate Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings, Parents Anonymous support groups, workshops, parenting groups, coordinate parent-child activities, among other

Prepare all materials for workshops, parent-child activities, classes, center events, contact presenters/partners, among others prior to start of event

Prepare monthly reports to overseeing agencies/referral sources (i.e., DCP&P, DCF and Community Partnership) where applicable

Recruit a minimum of eight (8) new families per month

Submit monthly family follow up statistics and weekly outreach reports

Conduct outreach with other agencies, schools, businesses, community leaders, among others via phone, fax, mail, and/or in-person contact on a weekly basis and document such interactions


Qualifications:




At least an Associate's degree in human services field; Must be actively pursuing Family Development Credential (FDC). Must possess ability to type and be computer literate as well as work independently and be goal oriented. Bilingual English & Spanish preferred
