The Department of Mathematics at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a
part-time Instructor
position to teach a
3-credit lower-division mathematics course in Spring 2026
, with the possibility of renewal depending on performance, enrollment, and budget.
Responsibilities
Teach one lower-division undergraduate course (e.g.,
College Algebra, Precalculus, or Business Calculus
).
Prepare syllabi, assignments, and exams consistent with departmental guidelines.
Hold regular office hours and provide timely feedback to students.
Maintain accurate course and grade records.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in
mathematics or a closely related field
completed by the start of the appointment.
Ability to teach lower-division undergraduate mathematics.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree or higher in mathematics or a closely related field.
Prior successful experience teaching undergraduate mathematics.
