I.

GENERAL NATURE OF POSITION.

The Facility Manager is responsible for maintaining the day-to-day functioning of the facility and associated off-site properties. They will oversee the rink and building attendants, assigning them specific duties and checking off their completed tasks. The Facility Manager will be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all machinery and equipment within the community center, arena, fitness center, Little Bear East Sportspark, and maintaining the off-site parks and assisting with field prep during the summer season as directed by the Recreation Director. This position is under the direct supervision of the Recreation Director.

II.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.

A.

1. Inspect facility daily and document any problem areas to work during the week

2. Understand risk management practices; make sure that employees are trained in proper safety procedures

3. Work with the Recreation Director with respect to recreation planning and departmental operations.

4. Oversee all building, equipment, and grounds maintenance and improvement; including snow removal. Responsibilities include LBE, fitness center, and all other recreation department facilities

5. Work with the Recreation Director on the facility and maintenance budget and how to most effectively utilize funds for facility needs

6. Train and supervise maintenance staff-including building and rink attendants

7. Responsible for ordering facility cleaning supplies, pop, and other concession items as needed

8. Operates ice resurfacing equipment and leads the process for putting down and removing ice at the beginning and end of each ice season

9. Assist with game day operations for all hockey tournaments, including skate sharpening.

10. Assist with set-up and tear-down needs, in addition to any electronic set-up, for all facility events and rentals.

11. Orders supplies to perform job duties, as needed.

12. Will have the ability to assist as needed with after-business hours situations and respond effectively to emergency situations

13. Must be able to lift 40lbs.

B.

1. Ability to work rapidly, prioritize multiple assignments, and meet specific deadlines;

2. Working knowledge of computer programs required for recordkeeping and communication with online ordering systems;

3. Ability to communicate needs to staff and plan to effectively help the flow events;

4. Ability to work independently with limited supervision;

5. Ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently;

6. Ability to operate ice resurfacing equipment or willing to learn;

7. Ability to use a skate sharpener or willing to learn;

8. Ability to work in a collaborative team environment as well as to lead individuals;

9. Ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner of cooperation and rapport;

10. Ability to analyze complex situations and exercise superior judgment to achieve both long- and short-range objectives specific to current upkeep and future updates regarding the facility

III. DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS.

A. Education.

Possession of a high school diploma or G.E.D. is required.

B. Experience.

Desired experience in maintenance, repairs, and equipment handling.

IV. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS.

1. U. S. citizen.

2. Eighteen (18) years of age or older at date of job.

3. Michigan Driver's License, valid without record of suspension or revocation in any state - possess, or ability to obtain by date of hire.

4. Must complete and pass pre-employment health and drug testing and periodic drug testing as required.

5. Must undergo a background investigation.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
