Job Purpose
Plans, coordinates, implements, and administer all security and operation functions at the Coastal Evaluation Center. Provides direction, leadership, oversight and guidance to all security and operations staff at a Level II Facility. Ensures that youth receive the full array of rehabilitative services in a safe and secure environment. Responsible for the schedule and movement of youth at the facility and collaborates with other divisions to ensure structured and systematic delivery of services.

Job Duties
Ensures compliance with all agency policies, procedures and processes and compliance with State and Federal Law. Monitors and evaluates staff\'s compliance with agency policies, procedures, and processes. Includes using the Employee Performance Management system and counsels and disciplines as necessary for violations.

Ensures all uniform security staff earn and maintain appropriate certification, recertification and attend any additional required training. If aware that staff is deficient in certain areas, ensures staff receives additional instruction and training in that area.

Manages the administrative functions of the agency in conjunction with other agency divisions. Manages the hiring process for all vacancies on the security and operations staff for the facility, including ensuring new employees are on-boarded to encourage retention.

Responds as necessary to all facility emergencies and is responsible for communicating with leadership about all events and incidents at the facility.

Performs other related duties as required to support the mission of the agency.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

Agency Requirements: A bachelor\'s degree and supervisory experience in a juvenile or correctional environment. Relevant experience maybe substituted for a bachelor\'s degree on a year for year basis.

Minimal and Additional Requirements:

Knowledge of agency\'s mission, programs and objectives including State and Federal law.

Knowledge of management principles.

Ability to interpret and apply rules and regulations.

Ability to manage work and provide technical assistance to employees and supervision in secure residential facilities.

Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely; both orally and in writing.

Knowledge of residential therapeutic methods aimed at rehabilitating youth offenders, non-physical deescalation techniques and crisis intervention.

Able to make decisions and provide leadership in a sometimes hectic and chaotic environment. Within 90 days of hiring the ability to obtain certification according to SCDJJ Training guidelines. Annually maintain certification according to SCDJJ Training guidelines.
Must be self-directed with the ability to work independently under limited supervision with annual performance reviews and utilizing other quality improvement metrics.

As the organization continues to adjust to new leadership and organizational structure, the tasks and duties associated with this position maybe changed.

Must be able to work any shift (day, evening, night, weekend, and/or holidays) and stay over if necessary. Work in locked quarters; must be willing and able to physically intervene with youth during conflicts, be able to lift, be mobile, and must be able to work around youth without restrictions.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred: 5 years of management/supervisory experience in juvenile justice/criminal justice preferred.

This position performs job duties relating to the custody, control, transport, or recapture of juveniles within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice. Training applicable to these duties will be provided. This essential position is required one to report to work outside of normal business hours, including nights and weekends, emergency and hazardous situations. For extended periods, one must be able to perform basic physical functions such as walking, standing, sitting, bending, etc.
