Oversees and/or provides custodial services to grounds and buildings to enhance the image of St. Catherine Parish and St. Catherine School, to provide a suitable and healthy environment for building occupants. This is a full time, year-round position. Due to many of this position's responsibilities requiring work when students are not present, and he/she/they must be present for a portion of the school day, the hours may be adjusted to allow for completion of major responsibilities
Major Responsibilities (including but not limited to, under Principal and Parish Leadership direction):
Safety Compliance:
Attend regular training and keep current with rules and regulations related to maintenance of campus, including but not limited to Archdiocesan training.
Ensure compliance with safety requirements of state, federal, and Archdiocesan entities, such as monitoring and managing potentially hazardous chemicals on campus, inspection of safety equipment, etc.
Complete and submit timely reports required, i.e. asbestos report.
Schedule and document timely inspections by outside agencies including insurance, fire department, and others as needed.
Facilities management:
Monitor facilities daily for any safety or security concerns and take appropriate action.
Ensure proper operation of all systems within the facilities, including HVAC, plumbing, smoke and fire system, lighting and other facilities related systems. Perform preventative maintenance to buildings and grounds to minimize plumbing, mechanical, electrical, heating and air conditioning system failures.
Manage all maintenance needs. Establish work priorities and providestraining and work direction to volunteers and/or janitorial vendors.
Maintains an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and reorders as appropriate.
Maintains an inventory of hospitality supplies (restroom, kitchen and others) and reorders as appropriate.
Sweeps, mops and vacuums the church, cleans Victoria Hall (gym, music room, foyer, hallways, restrooms) and other buildings and assures order and neatness as appropriate.
Empties outdoor garbage cans throughout the campus as needed or on a scheduled basis.
Assures that kitchen is clean after events and ready for use.
Check boilers for proper operation and make adjustments as needed. Assures that heating units are in proper working order.
Assures that buildings are secure when not in use.
Sets up for special events (e. g. chairs, tables and other event requirements).
Performs minor and preventive maintenance as necessary.
Conducts major annual cleaning (floor stripping and waxing) in classrooms and hallways.
Work closely with the Principal and Parish Leadership on facility and safety needs in an ongoing, scheduled, and regular fashion.
Communicate long-term maintenance and other facilities needs to Principal and Facilities Director
Work directly with Principal and/or Facilities Director when outside vendors/support is needed.
Coordinate and complete school summer facilities needs.
Performs other duties as may be assigned.
Grounds:
Monitor campus grounds on a daily basis for any safety or security concerns and take appropriate action.
Maintain basic landscaping needs, i.e. leafblowing, weeding, lawnmowing. Prunes shrubbery and trees as needed.
Assures that grounds are properly watered.
Janitorial:
Address janitorial needs that arise during school hours in a timely manner
Complete custodial tasks for parish facilities
Physical Requirements:
Must be in good physical condition and able to lift up to 75 pounds
Must have the ability to perform physically demanding tasks including bending, kneeling, standing, reaching, climbing, stopping, squatting, and twisting on a regular basis in a variety of conditions
Work schedule:
Full-time 40 hours/week, Work Agreement, 6:30AM-3:00PM Monday-Friday, on-call on evenings/weekends for urgent matters
Wage:
Depends on experience, ranges $31-$34/hour
