The Facilities Specialist is a hands-on role focused on mechanical systems, with a strong emphasis on plumbing repairs and code compliance. This position supports the safety, functionality, and regulatory integrity of all PPCS facilities by performing skilled maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work. The ideal candidate will bring deep mechanical knowledge, particularly in plumbing systems, and contribute to a safe, dignified environment for clients and staff.
Essential Functions
Mechanical & Plumbing Maintenance
Perform plumbing repairs and installations across all PPCS facilities, including fixtures, piping, water heaters, and drainage systems
Ensure all plumbing work complies with local and state plumbing codes
Conduct preventive maintenance on mechanical systems including HVAC, water supply, and waste systems
Respond to emergency plumbing issues, including leaks, clogs, and equipment failures
Collaborate with external contractors and inspectors to ensure code compliance and timely repairs
Maintain accurate records of plumbing work, inspections, and permits
General Facilities Support
Assist with minor electrical, carpentry, and appliance repairs as needed
Monitor and maintain fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, and egress pathways
Receive and complete work orders via Bell Data System
Support facility safety and compliance with city, state, and federal standards
Participate in on-call emergency maintenance rotation, including weekends and holidays
Custodial Support (as needed)
Support cleaning and sanitation of common areas, bathrooms, and client rooms
Assist with light fixture maintenance and supply inventory
Maintain cleanliness and good order of assigned spaces
Required Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED required; technical certification in plumbing or mechanical systems strongly preferred
Minimum 5 years of experience in building maintenance, with at least 3 years focused on plumbing systems
Demonstrated knowledge of plumbing code and mechanical system safety standards
Class E Driver's License
Familiarity with OSHA guidelines and HIPAA/privacy standards
Ability to interact respectfully with clients experiencing homelessness, substance use, or mental illness
First Aid and CPR certification
Proficiency with Office 365 and digital work order systems
Strong work ethic, integrity, and sense of humor
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Operates across all PPCS facilities
Must be able to lift and carry at least 50 lbs
Local travel may be required during business hours
