Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.

  • Construction experience, including carpentry, sheet metal & concrete work
  • Ability to identify & correct maintenance problems and make repairs, including responding to emergencies
  • Skill in working with a diverse customer base in a professional and effective manner
  • Ability to interpret manuals, work orders, schematics, etc. & perform basic math
  • Ability to safely and effectively use trade-specific equipment & tools
  • Ability and willingness to complete Animal Control Officer (ACO) certification
  • Proficiency using e-mail and hand-held electronic devices (e.g., iPhone, iPad, Tablet, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of hydrologic systems & dam maintenance and repair
  • Knowledge of roofing systems, maintenance & repair, & warranties
  • Previous related work experience in higher education or government
  • Experience as a certified Animal Control Officer (ACO)
  • Experience with AiM & SAP


Responsible for providing skilled and semi-skilled maintenance repair work on University facilities and equipment on the Round Rock campus.
Job Duties
  • Inspect buildings, equipment, and facilities, and make repairs and perform preventative maintenance
  • Estimate labor, materials, equipment, and construction costs for projects
  • Perform State of Texas licensed Animal Control Officer (ACO) removal of bats, wasp nests, raccoons, and other wildlife from in and around University buildings
  • Complete routine and emergency work orders
  • Required to stand rotational on call with other Shop employees
