ABOUT FACILITIES
Our Facilities Division of the Parks and Recreation Services Branch perform maintenance at over 25 miles of boulevards, 465 parks, including 26 community centers, 8 indoor swimming pools, 2 outdoor (summer) swimming pools, 4 environmental education centers, 2 small-craft centers, 4 golf courses, and an outdoor stadium. We place strong emphasis on providing excellent customer service to the public, clients, and staff to ensure public safety and enjoyment while they are at SPR facilities and parks.
The AFMS, under general supervision, provides direct supervision to crew chiefs and other personnel in various crafts and trades, including but not limited to carpentry, plumbing, glazing, sheet metal work, painting, gardening, landscape maintenance, electrical work, machine work, small engine repair, welding, and HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air condition) systems. Personal contact is primarily with inter-departmental employees for coordinating work activities and with vendors for contracted repair work. This position is not represented.
We are currently recruiting for one (1) regular, benefited position. Working primarily on the 3rd shift (Nights) between the hours of 8:30PM to 7:00AM, Monday through Thursday on a 4/10 shift schedule.
Job Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, dispatch, supervise, and review the work of crews engaged in various trades and skilled craft activities.
• Set clear work standards and regularly evaluate performance to ensure quality and efficiency.
• Manage and oversee facilities operations and maintenance across multiple buildings, grounds, and infrastructure within a workplace setting.
• Provide leadership and oversight into complex and multi-site facilities operations and/or maintenance activities.
• Analyze labor costs, develop cost estimates, monitor expenditures, prepare unit budgets, and support section-level budget planning.
• Supervise scheduled preventive maintenance programs for community centers, swimming pools, playground equipment, and other public facilities.
• Direct the scheduling and prioritization of tasks for a large, multi-disciplinary team working across a complex campus or multiple remote locations.
• Coordinate with crews to carry out building alterations, remodeling projects, and repair work.
• Respond promptly to emergent issues across a wide range of facility-related concerns and geographic areas.
• Organize, estimate, execute, and monitor projects while serving as a liaison between teams and stakeholders.
• Inspect buildings and equipment to identify operational issues and recommend maintenance, repair, or remodeling solutions.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Six years of facilities operations and/or operational maintenance experience, including at least two years as a lead worker or supervisor in the area of construction, remodeling, or structural maintenance of buildings or electrical or mechanical systems; or in physical plant engineering which includes the operation or maintenance of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and/or refrigeration systems.
Substitution: College level education in civil, construction, electrical, industrial, mechanical, physical plant, or general engineering, or a related field, may be substituted for the operations experience (but not for the lead experience) on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of three years.
License, Certification, and Other Requirements

• Current Washington State driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility.

You will be successful if you have the following experience, skills, and abilities:
Desired Qualifications:

• Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively prioritize and schedule maintenance tasks, aligning them with departmental needs.
• A minimum of two years of Supervisor experience with multiple Skilled Trades groups
• Two or more years of experience reading & interpreting blueprints.
• A minimum of one year of experience in at least one of the following areas: HVAC systems, fire safety or suppression systems, pool or other automated control systems, electrical systems, or plumbing systems.
• Be highly motivated and able to work as a team member in a demanding work environment, meeting tight deadlines.

• Experience using software packages such as Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, and Outlook, Automated Work Order Systems, and/or similar software applications.

• Competence in maintaining clear and comprehensive written records.
• Demonstrated ability to perform effectively under pressure and adapt to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Skilled in optimizing limited resources to achieve organizational goals.
• Willingness to work flexible hours to support meeting schedules and operational needs.
• Proven capability in conflict resolution and team building within a diverse and inclusive workforce.
• Effective communication skills to coordinate maintenance activities, convey operational needs, concerns, and procedures.
• Exhibit a high level of proficiency in verbal communication to convey information effectively and professionally.
• Familiarity with workplace safety standards and proven experience managing on-the-job hazards effectively.
• Strong leadership abilities with a demonstrated capacity to interact courteously, tactfully, and professionally with customers, including those under stress or displaying challenging behavior.
• Experience maintaining multiple municipal or large commercial facilities.

Work Environment/Physical Demands/Other:

• Work is based in an office environment but may be subject to periods of standing, walking, lifting, and other activities involved in inspecting and assessing the work of the unit.
• Positions in this class may be subject to being on call, working overtime, and responding to off-hours emergencies.
• Dependent on business needs, candidates may be required to obtain a respirator clearance fit test.

Additional Information
The full salary range for this position is $55.32 to $64.43 per hour.
