POSITION SUMMARY

The

Facilities Maintenance Specialist

is responsible for maintaining the functionality, safety, and appearance of SEK-CAP's properties. This role includes performing repairs, inspecting rental units, maintaining grounds, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Working closely with the Property Manager, the specialist ensures that maintenance needs are addressed efficiently and professionally, contributing to a high-quality environment for residents and staff. This position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to exceptional service and safety.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Review and analyze work schedules and estimate required labor hours to complete assignments. Track and report time spent and outcomes for each task. Adjust work procedures to meet scheduling requirements and operational goals. Maintain adequate inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies. Perform general repairs and painting of both interior and exterior areas of all agency properties. Inspect completed maintenance work to ensure compliance with blueprints, specifications, and quality standards. Complete and submit work orders promptly and accurately. Conduct physical inspections of SEK-CAP rental units and report findings to the supervisor. Perform follow-up inspections and ensure corrective actions are completed as needed. Maintain grounds and landscaping, including mowing, trimming, weeding, and general debris removal. Conduct routine cleaning and upkeep of building interiors and exteriors, including tasks such as dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and window cleaning. Represent SEK-CAP positively in the community and maintain professional public relations. Ensure confidentiality and privacy of all client and agency information. Respect and support diverse cultural backgrounds and family structures. Demonstrate professional work habits, including punctuality and adherence to break policies. Attend required staff meetings and training sessions. Report any suspected abuse or neglect to appropriate authorities as mandated. Uphold and promote SEK-CAP's core values and mission in all activities. Support management decisions through positive action and communication. Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Required:

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices safely and effectively. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work respectfully with diverse individuals. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Flexibility to work irregular hours when needed to meet deadlines. Highly organized and resourceful, with strong problem-solving abilities. Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, clients, and community partners. Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.

Preferred:

HVAC system knowledge. Prior experience in carpentry, residential construction, or property maintenance. Basic computer proficiency. Familiarity with Housing Quality Standards (HQS).

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent required. Must have, or be willing to obtain, HQS Inspection Certification and CPR/First Aid Training. Valid driver's license and insurability under organization's vehicle insurance policy. Must pass background checks, including criminal history and drug screening. Completion of health assessment and TB testing as required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

Frequent use of hands for handling tools and materials. Ability to reach, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, and climb ladders. Regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to access all areas of properties, including crawl spaces, attics, and rooftops. Visual acuity for close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Exposure to varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold, as well as wet or humid environments. Work environment noise levels range from quiet to moderate.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
